Breeding Journal
Dog breeding: heats & litters
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Rebuilt from scratch. The new Today screen shows which day of her heat your bitch is on, how far along the pregnancy is and how old the puppies are.
Breeding Journal is the breeding record we wished we'd had. We're Louise and Calle Edlund, and we've bred dogs at our kennel, Cani Lee, since 2014. During one of our litters we realized pen and paper weren't enough any more. We wanted to look back at last time: how far apart the puppies came, and what they weighed. That's how the app started.
Now we've rebuilt it from scratch. Five clear tabs, and a home screen that shows what's going on in your kennel right now.
TODAY
• Which day of her heat your bitch is on, and when her next heat is due
• Day of pregnancy and expected whelping date, 63 days from the first mating
• How old the puppies are, and a nudge when a litter needs updating
• Shortcuts: log a heat, new mating, new puppy buyer or new dog
DOGS
• Bitches and males in one place, sorted into active, young and retired
• A profile for every dog: photo, registration number, hips (HD), elbows (ED), patella, eyes, spine, hearing, teeth and titles
• A heat log with the interval between heats and an estimate of the next one
• Contracts and certificates saved as photos on the dog
LITTERS
• The whole litter on one page: matings with the day of heat, temperatures, whelping date and the puppies
• A card for each puppy with color code, birth weight, sex, color, health results and new owner
• A weight chart for every puppy, and "Weigh the litter" to enter today's weight for all of them at once
• Mating and puppy contracts saved as photos
• Email every new owner in the litter with one tap
• Used a stud dog from another breeder? Share the litter with the stud owner. They see the puppies and their health results, never your buyers' details.
PEOPLE
• Puppy buyers grouped as interested, reserved and has a puppy
• Link a buyer to their puppy and their contact details land on the puppy card
• Call, text or email straight from the app
• Stud requests with bitch, male and a provisional date
KENNEL
• Finances: income and expenses by month and year, with a photo of the receipt
• Statistics: hip, elbow, eye and patella results for your puppies, by litter, dam or sire
Over the years you can see what each combination produced, which makes it easier to evaluate your breeding and carry what you've learned into the next litter.
The app is in English and Swedish, follows your phone's dark mode and has no ads.

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Improvements based on your feedback:
• Retired females can log heats again. New litters stay closed for them.
• Litter notes can be written directly on the litter page.
• The weight chart draws puppies with almost the same weight side by side, so every puppy is visible.
• The keyboard closes when you leave a text field.
