A document made of photos is no longer called "File-09-17-2026". It takes the title written on it, and you can search for the words inside it, not only for its name. The shortcuts at the top of Tools are now the ones you actually use.

MAKE YOUR PHOTOS LIGHTER — FOR FREE Pick as many photos as you like and make them all smaller in one go. Choose how big they should stay — for printing, for an email, for a chat — and how much quality to keep. Before you save anything you can see what every picture weighed and what it weighs now. Your originals are never touched, and the copies leave the location and the camera details behind.

MAKE A MEME Pick a picture — one of the templates everybody already knows, or a photo of your own — and write on it. Put the words where the joke needs them: drag them, pinch them bigger or smaller, choose the face (Impact is in there), the size, the color and the alignment. Then save it to your photos or send it to someone. Also new: the image editor. Crop a photo, turn it, straighten it and set the brightness, the contrast and the color before it becomes a PDF. And the app now speaks Dutch.

PASSPORT PHOTOS, FROM YOUR PHONE The photo for a passport, an ID card or a driving licence, in your country's own measurements: 35 × 45 mm in Europe, 26 × 32 in Spain, square in the United States. The app finds the face, measures the head from the chin to the top of the hair and crops it for you. Then it tells you what is wrong before you go and print: head tilted, eyes half shut, a shadow down one side of the face, an uneven background. Pick a white, grey or light blue backdrop, move the frame if you want to, and get a 10 × 15 cm sheet with six photos to cut out. Also new: a tool that removes the background from a photo.
