A product that has reached #1 on the front page of Hacker News and topped the paid tools chart across all European countries, while ranking #2 in the US on the same day.
Queryable is an open-source, offline photo album search tool unlike anything you've used before.
Search your photos with natural descriptions like "two people by the sea," "a blonde woman holding a glass of red wine," "a girl in red on the lawn," or even emotional moments like "We fell in love." Queryable understands longer, more human descriptions instead of only simple tags.
New in this version: search in your own language. Non-English queries are translated on your device before searching, so your photos and your words never leave your phone.
You can also search by photo, filter results by time, batch-select and share, clean up duplicates more precisely, and view Live Photos and videos more reliably.
Pay once and use it forever. Queryable works completely offline after download, protecting the privacy of your photo library.
FAQ:
1. What languages can I search in?
You can search in your own language. Queryable translates your query on device before searching, while keeping the accuracy of the English search model. The app interface is currently localized in English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian.
2. How is my photo privacy protected?
Queryable works completely offline. You can even disable the app's network permissions if you have privacy concerns.
3. How do I use it?
After downloading, build an index for your photos. This takes a few minutes depending on your library and device. On an iPhone 12 mini, Queryable processes about 2,000 photos per minute, and indexing is only required once.
Once indexing is complete, you can search instantly. When you add new photos, you can update the index at any time.

I like how quick and easy it is to use. One issue I have is that the images aren’t masonry like on the photos app which makes it a bit hard to see but its not a big deal imo. When selecting multiple images I wish you could multiselect a lot of images like on the photod app. I’d also like if you could copy your entire selection in the share option or move them to another app. The only action you can take is deleting it which is neat but more options (like copying or ideally opening them in another app) would be great! On the iPad if your in horizontal mode and you open an image. The image apparently shrinks in size. You have to put it on vertical one and back to horizontal mode to fix it.If a couple of this changes could be implemented that would take this application from a great app to a extremely useful one. Overall this is a great project! Keep up the great work!!!If I see any of these changes I’ll be happy to give this a 5 star!Edit: saw this awesome update go through!! Glad to see improvements are being made! Amazing app! :)
Way better than iOS search
Mustache Emperor
The UI is very simple and will benefit from some polish, but this works perfectly on my 14 Pro. Make sure to let the index complete the first time you run the app. The search quality is really impressive. I can find every Simpsons meme in my saved photos, every picture I’ve ever taken at an art museum, every picture I’ve taken of a neon sign, every selfie I took with my old roommate at a bar. This really feels like the future. Big thanks to the dev, I really appreciate having this.
Developer Response
Thanks for letting me know about it! The UI does need more polishing, and in the latest version (v1.2.0) the UI will be more flexible to fit the phone.
Extremely useful

I bought this because I was interested in the technology (read about it on HN) but this app has been surprisingly useful. I have a lot of photos on my phone, and it’s great to be able to find photos containing an object. I use it about once every two weeks. I wish the native Photos search was this good. I also appreciate that all of the machine learning is done on device in a privacy preserving way. Apple should buy this app.
Developer Response
Thanks for understanding.
Really amazing semantic search

I’ve realized it’s surprisingly often I need a very specific photo that Apple Photos or Google Photos just can’t handle with its basic object search. But Queryable is able to handle these complex scenarios nearly every time! “Pizza box secured to a bicycle with cargo straps”? - got it! “Black cat loafing on a piece of styrofoam”? - no problem! And entirely locally?? Super impressive.Apple really needs to hire the person behind this app and integrate it into Apple Photos.

Thank you for making me feel that what I do is meaningful.
All-new "Clean Up Similar Photos"
• Similar photos are sorted into three tiers — Exact Duplicates, Near Identical, and Similar Scenes — so you know exactly what you're cleaning before you clean it
• One-tap clean for every tier: AI aesthetic scoring automatically keeps the best photo in each group, and the Similar Scenes tier asks for extra confirmation
• Keep as many photos per group as you like: tap the circles to pick any, keep the whole group in one tap, or tap any photo to compare full-screen
• Your progress is saved automatically — leave and come back anytime, even after force-quitting the app
• Photos only: videos are never touched
• Bulk deletion now asks for confirmation just once
Fixes & improvements
• Fixed scrolling getting stuck after entering multi-select
• Fixed swipe-to-select occasionally triggering "go back"
