I’ve made some genuinely awesome stuff on here but I’ve also wasted a ton of money on failed, flawed, or otherwise compromised generations that had nothing to do with my prompts. You pay per generation not just for the ones you actually use. It’s a bit of a gamble, because you never know if it’s going to actually follow your instructions accurately. But when it works, it’s awesome, amazing technology. I just wish you only paid for the stuff you kept. You should have an option to keep it and pay for it or basically return it. Or at least get a portion of the credits back for really screwed up outputs. The AI agent will also trick you into spending your credits so you have to be very patient and vigilant. They’d benefit greatly from using an agent that didn’t automatically and consistently try to drain your pockets. Other than that it’s great, but I won’t use it often, not unless they fix some things and bring down the cost. Dropping $300+ on a 30 second to minute long video is an unsustainable business model. I’d be better off betting on a sportsbook app…

Runway assigns asset ids to each uploaded asset. The id is literally 36 characters long. However you cannot ever reference this asset id without scrolling up endlessly. You cannot copy this asset id except manually as text from the chat cannot be selected to copy. You will not be able to reference assets effectively to verify you are accurate in your directions. Runway is also unable to build from previous wins and make small edits to achieve final results. I spent hours making a story board for a simple 10-12 second logo reveal with four assets. After the 8th iteration the story board was good enough to move to video. the first video was almost there. It just needed some placement edits. And it could not follow simple instructions to modify placement of previously uploaded assets. Instead is started throwing randomly created videos with wildly different effects and text styles like I needed to reinvent a long established logo and graphic standards. Its failure costs you money as each shortcoming requires more credits to resolve. It could not remove sound or music from a video. It could not even extend a videos timing a few seconds. Though repeatedly asked to do so, it came back with videos with identical sound and identical running time. Runway has been a dreadfully frustrating waste of time.

Extremely disappointing and shockingly expensive experience. I purchased Runway specifically to create AI video content, then purchased an additional 1,000 credits thinking that would finally give me enough to complete one project. Instead, credits disappeared incredibly quickly while the actual video results were poor, unrealistic, and often unusable. Simple requests produced distorted or awkward footage, and the process repeatedly pushed me toward spending even more credits just to try again.What makes this especially frustrating is that you can spend a significant amount of money without ending up with a single usable finished video. Even basic experimentation becomes expensive because every bad generation costs you, regardless of the quality of the result.The concept behind Runway is great, but my experience did not come remotely close to justifying the cost. I expected a premium creative tool; instead I spent money, purchased additional credits, wasted an enormous amount of time troubleshooting, and still couldn’t complete one relatively simple social media video. I would not recommend this service based on my experience, and I will not be purchasing additional credits or continuing my subscription.

Truthfully, it’s clunky to use, images from my library don’t upload, or I can’t use them as base images because of some unknown bug that just doesn’t let me select new photos. Also, it’s just not worth your money. The videos it generates are decent at best, but if you’re a creator and it doesn’t get your content right, you just wasted a ton of credits for nothing. To be fair to Runway, the whole “credits” to utilize the models are a flawed business model entirely, for the simple reason that if you need to regenerate something, you’re essentially losing money by wasting credits on something it should have gotten right the first time. Also, if I’m paying you a subscription fee, maybe consider uncapping or at least expanding how many characters I’m allowed to type into any given model, especially when I need to waste words putting guardrails up that your models will still ignore. Tl;dr - not worth it unless you don’t care about your money spent regenerating videos over and over to get it right
