It's as if the developers looked at all of the advancements in gaming over the last 10-15 years and thought, "no, we don't need that". On top of that, the system is just clunky. When you level up, for example, the stats window pops up for you to distribute your new stats, regardless of where you are or what you are doing. If you were in the middle of a fight, the monsters will continue to attack you.

Controls are no good getting armor so you don’t die is a pain. Not belong able to get off your horse is a big problem too Had to unequip the horse completely.

Hello! Thank you for the feedback. Good news: We heard you and added a shortcut slot/button on the screen specifically for the horse! You can now easily mount and dismount without unequipping it. We are also working on balancing the difficulty and improving controls. Please give it another try!
