WatchR

Police Accountability App

Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

WatchR is an application designed to help users hold police officers accountable for their actions. The app encourages users to record their interactions with police officers and upload them to a publicly accessible database. The goal is to create a transparent record of police interactions with the public and increase accountability, as well as highlight good police behavior. With WatchR, users can easily start recording any interactions with police officers. The app will automatically save the recording to their device and upload it to the public database, including its location. Users can also add additional information about the interaction, such as the officer(s) badge number(s), their department name, the reason for the intervention and the fine received to help provide context for the recording. These recordings are then saved under the officer(s) profile page which can be found in their department's profile page. WatchR also includes a feature for users to rate their interactions with individual police officers. This helps other users know which officers have a track record of treating people fairly and professionally, and which ones may have a history of misconduct. Additionally, WatchR provides resources for users to learn more about their legal rights when interacting with the police. The public database created by WatchR is accessible to anyone, including journalists, researchers, and community activists. By making this data available to the public, users can help shed light on any patterns of misconduct or abuse of power by individual police officers. This information can be used to hold officers accountable for their actions and push for reforms to improve police accountability. Overall, WatchR is a powerful tool for promoting police accountability and increasing transparency in police interactions with the public. By using WatchR to record and share their experiences, users can help drive meaningful change in the way law enforcement operates in their communities.
