Our first update for 2026 is a big one! * Based on user feedback, free users can now access our ultra low definition models when online. * We’ve added user profiles and a logbook. * You can now filter areas in the map and in lists. * Our maps now support boulder shape and route annotations. * We also added: rain warnings for sandstone area, deep links, sharing support (web links, GPS + parking locations), show the people who contribute/maintain areas, a South America data server and much more.

Ho ho ho! Send’a Claus here with a great big Red-Point release to close out 2025. Our 3D guides now supports annotations: we are using these to mark in anchors, bolts, trails, warnings, abseil stations, cross area links and so much more. Annotations are a *huge* feature that our guide authors will use to unambiguously mark critical information that are usually written descriptions.

We are also introducing our new area details page; this includes area descriptions, access notes, approach details, rules and safety information, global route search and much more. As our guide authors build their guides, the area detail page ‘completes’ the full guidebook style experience that we have been lacking. You can now search for routes within the apps global search. Tapping on a route will immediately open the 3D guide and highlight that route.

For iOS users, Red-Point now indexes all climbing areas into Spotlight; any crag known to Red-Point will now appear in the iOS global search. We’ve fixed lots of bugs and improved the all round performance and memory usage of the app.

We are pleased to introduce our new, superior 3D player. This release fixes many 3D player related crashes, creates a streamlined 3D guide viewing experience and introduces searching, filtering and jump to route within our 3D guides. Red-Point now also supports Spanish, with other languages on their way. You can change the app's language in the Settings screen. We have also added support for Brazilian Technical grades.

We've improved the UI for the climbing area cards in our map view, fixed a bug related to downloading areas, added 'breadcrumbs' on the map to help you find new crags and fixed lots of little bugs.

This release introduces paid subscriptions for Red-Point+. Going forward, downloading areas for offline usage and exploring our 3D guides requires a Red-Point+ subscription. All other features remain free to use. If you love what we are doing, then subscribing to Red-Point is the single best way you can support us. Every Red-Point+ purchase lets us work faster and harder to expand our 3D guide coverage across the world.

We've fixed a bug where downloads would occasionally get stuck and a crash that could occur when the 3d player launches.

This release updates the underlying runtimes for our code, giving a nice boost to app performance and fixing a few known 3d player compatibility crashes. We’ve also: * Made the loading for 3d assets faster and use less memory. * Added a side menu option to quickly re-open the 3d viewer.

We’ve re-jigged the navigation hierarchy of Red-Point by removing the “More” tab and replacing it with flyout menu. You can now change your grade preferences in this menu, manage downloaded data, access app settings and sign out. We have also tightened up the controls and added device compatibility checks for the 3d player.

This release fixes a crash in our “Give Feedback” page and fine tunes when climbing areas load into the map to make areas easier to find.  We have also improved the maps reliability when you're offline or have a bad internet connection.

This Red-Point release focuses on stability and performance.
