See the whole subnet, not just the answer. Understand address space visually, catch overlaps before they hurt, and take results you trust straight into the job.
IP Calc is a subnet calculator for people who do this for a living.
Type an address. The whole block appears as one figure you can read at a glance —
network, usable range, broadcast, and how much space is actually in there. Then drag
the block to resize it and watch the numbers follow.
THE COUNT YOUR CLOUD ACTUALLY GIVES YOU
Textbook subnet math says a /20 has 4,094 usable addresses. Your VPC disagrees.
Switch the reserve profile to AWS, Azure or GCP and every figure re-reads under that
provider's rules — five reserved addresses per subnet on AWS and Azure, four on GCP,
and the minimum prefix each one will accept. The app names the addresses it took, one
by one: VPC router, DNS, future use. No other calculator on your phone does this, and
it is the difference between a number that is correct and a number you can build on.
START FROM WHAT YOU NEED
You know you need room for 400 phones. Type the host count and IP Calc picks the
best mask, then shows you what it costs you in wasted addresses.
NINE INSTRUMENTS
• VLSM Calculator — subnet a block by host count, with named allocations and the free
space drawn honestly
• Subnet Split — divide a block into equal subnets
• Compare Subnets — overlap and containment
• Supernet Calculator — smallest covering block
• IPv6 Subnet Calculator — prefix size and subnet count
• Bandwidth Calculator — transfer time, rate and units
• IP Converter — decimal, hex and binary
• Wildcard / ACL Calculator — wildcard mask plus copy-ready Cisco ACL lines
• IP Validator — check one address and name its type
KEEP YOUR NETWORKS
Bookmark the blocks you care about and give them names. Every pair of bookmarks is
checked for collisions, and when two of them share addresses the app says so at the
top of the screen and draws exactly where the overlap falls. Recents are kept
separately — a scroll trail is not a plan, and it never triggers an alarm.
BUILT PROPERLY
• Everything is calculated on your device. Nothing you type leaves it.
• No account, no tracking, no network access at all.
• No ads, no subscription.
• Full VoiceOver support and Dynamic Type throughout.
• Custom keypads matched to what each field accepts, so you are never hunting for a
slash or a dot.
IP Calc has been rebuilt from the ground up.
• The address space is now a figure you can drag to resize, not a table you have to decode
• Reserve profiles for AWS, Azure and GCP, so the usable count matches what your VPC will actually give you
• Size a subnet from a host count instead of guessing at a prefix
• Nine tools: VLSM, subnet split, compare, supernet, IPv6, bandwidth, converter, wildcard/ACL and validator
• Bookmarks with labels, and an automatic overlap check across all of them
• Full VoiceOver support and Dynamic Type throughout
• Still calculated entirely on your device, with no network access at all
