■ Fixed A photo taken in portrait could be saved rotated 90°, when Aspect Ratio was Square or Size was anything but Full. Landscape shots were unaffected. ■ Fixed Automatic capture could not be stopped. With Trigger Mode set to Continuous and a condition that stayed met, the lock button did nothing at all when Interval Time was zero, and took a photo instead of locking when it wasn't. It now locks whenever you tap it, and nothing is shot while it is locked. ■ Interval Time and Delay Time Both are now set and shown in tenths of a second — 0.0 to 99.9 s — instead of milliseconds. That is the granularity anyone actually sets a gap or a delay at, and it is one wheel's worth of spinning rather than a thousand positions. ■ Also Settings reopen where you left them. The guide can be shared or copied. Sound mode measures the level without ever writing audio to disk. Compass headings are now recorded in photos as magnetic, which is what they are. If the camera is taken by a call or another app, the preview says so instead of going quietly black.

■ Two new trigger conditions Distance shoots when something comes closer than the distance you set, using LiDAR or TrueDepth. Gesture shoots on a peace sign held up to the camera, or on both arms raised — which reads from right across a room, where a hand shape is too small to see. ■ Capture delay Wait anything from a few milliseconds to 99.999 seconds between the condition being met and the shutter going, with a countdown ring sweeping around the shutter button. Time to walk into the frame, or out of it. ■ A sound when the condition is met Optional, and it sounds once per crossing rather than continuously. Useful while setting a threshold, and when you're too far from the screen to watch the indicator. ■ More on the indicator Each condition now shows what its bar actually measures — both ends of the scale and the threshold you've set — so a setting can be read and repeated. ■ Milliseconds Both the interval between shots and the new capture delay go from 0.000 to 99.999 seconds. ■ In the photo What triggered the shot, the reading at that moment, the threshold, the lens and the subject distance are written into the file's EXIF. ■ Fixed In Continuous mode, a second shot could be taken after the interval had passed even though the condition was no longer met — a photo of an empty frame. The condition is now checked again at the moment the shot is taken.
