Free WiFi, anywhere, anytime. The radar scans for free hotspot locations around the world. In most countries, there's a hotspot on almost every streetcorner. In coffee houses, fastfood restaurants, libraries, bars, hotels, etcetera. This app helps you find them quickly, using the built-in GPS of the iPhone.
The app leads you to the nearest of over 100,000 wireless hotspots, in 15,000 cities and 132 countries, with the touch of a button. It's WiFi for Dummies. Get your mail and browse the web without being charged. The ideal WiFi-tool for frequent travellers and mobile professionals.
The app shows you the nearest free hotspot address, provides directions on Apple Maps, and shows additional information, such as the hotspot provider, phone number and website. You can browse the full database manually by country and city, or choose to automatically show results based on your location.
The application doesn’t depend on WLAN scanning, which would limit the range to only 25 yards, but uses GPS to pinpoint all known hotspots up to a mile away. All the wireless accesspoints are locally stored on your iPhone, and GPS usage is also offline available, so no expensive data roaming is needed. When abroad, you save in roaming cost, because you will always find a broadband data connection for your laptop and iPhone.
This app will let you get your mail or surf the web as quickly as possible. Just run it and it'll search a free hotspot near you. It doesn't get easier than this.
This app is awkward. Has locations worldwide, but you have to dig from global all the way to local every time you use it (select country, select state, select city). You can't set defaults so you don't have to drill all the way in every time. When the list comes up of spots within a city, it's alphabetical. Would like to see it plotted on a map. Once a location is selected, you can see the location on a map, but you have to have internet connection to do that (what I'm looking for to begin with). Description says NOT compatible with iTouch, requirements says compatible with iTouch. It works on my iTouch but location is deemed from router vs. GPS. Not worth 2.99. Haven't seen one yet that is.
Excellent. Makes life easier and cheaper.

If you want to find an open WiFi hotspot with your iPhone, you depend on the built-in wireless scanner (in Settings/WiFi). It has a very limited range, it will only show hotspots with a 20 feet radius or so.With this tool, you can find hotspots in a much larger range, it will also list them if they're a mile away, because it uses GPS. You can alsofind free access points abroad, it allows you to manually browse the countries and cities. This is a real moneysaver, because you can avoid those outrageous roaming charges from AT&T. Excellent program IMO.
misleading

Works great! No gripes here. But please itouch users, If you know the app needs a GPS to work right and you know the itouch is not able to do such a thing, then why blame the app for your mistake of not paying attention?
