CrewNerd is now easier to use on the Apple Watch. If you start a workout on your iPhone, CrewNerd will try to launch the app on your Apple Watch automatically (in "paired" mode). If you start CrewNerd on your watch, it will assume "Watch only" mode unless you start a workout on your iPhone. During a practice, CrewNerd always shows what mode it is in at the bottom of the watch display.

Bug fixes.

You can now configure your heart rate zones using either of the two most popular methods. If you don't know your max HR, you can now estimate it based on your age.

You can now set a target stroke rate or heart rate zone for each workout or interval, and all workout types can now be edited. Set your heart rate zones by entering your maximum heart rate on the settings page.

Fixed a rare crash scenario.

Speed and pace are now updated once per stroke, and averaged over your last 4 strokes, by default. See the advanced settings page to change the averaging window. A new data field, "Remaining", shows the remaining time, distance, or strokes in a workout interval. If you use custom workouts of different duration types, you can now dedicate one spot on your screen to showing you "how much more?".

Fixed a couple of bugs.

Exporting workout data is now streamlined and improved! There is no longer a separate screen to select which workouts you want to export. By default, all workouts are exported, and if you want to export a subset, use the "Select workouts" button at the top of the export page. When you share using one of the file formats, you no longer have to select between file and email. Instead, a general-purpose sharing screen lets you share using a wide variety of options. Also, you can now share your custom workouts! Workouts are shared as standard FIT workout files. To share a workout, go to the workouts page and slide left on the workout to see options to share or delete the workout. Share the file using any mechanism you want. When someone receives an exported workout, they can select the FIT file, and then choose CrewNerd to open it. The imported workout will appear at the top of their workout list.

Fixed a bug that could leave the app temporarily stuck in evaluation mode after purchasing a subscription.

This update adds support for stroke length to the interval charts and speech output. It also fixes problems with the repeat button on the Apple Watch.

Fixed some issues with how workouts on the Apple Watch are saved to Apple Health.

This update includes a few bug fixes: 1) Stroke-based interval workouts are now exported correctly to Concept2, 2) fixed duplicate workouts in Apple Health when using the Apple Watch in "With iPhone" mode, 3) other minor fixes.

You can now display the actual data values for any point in the graph for a workout interval. Drag or pinch inside the graph to pan and zoom, as before. Tap and drag just below the graph to display the value(s) for any point in time. The data values are color-coded to show the axis that they correspond to. Also, to prevent errors you are now asked for confirmation when turning on coach mode.

Two improvements in this update: 1) In portrait mode, the workout data fields are now larger and more readable, 2) CrewNerd now integrates with Shortcuts to automate common tasks with just a tap (or by asking Siri), and offers App Shortcuts that you can place on the Action button. The new shortcuts include: start a "Just Go" workout, start the next interval in a workout, start or stop the timer, and check if a workout is currently active.

This update includes improved support for Apple Health. On the Apple Watch, your Apple Health workouts now include incremental distance and speed readings along your route. On the iPhone, you can now connect with Apple Health on the settings tab and then your workouts are sent to Apple Health automatically, including the same route information as on the Apple Watch. If you used a heart rate monitor, that data is also included. This release also fixes a bug in exporting to Rowsandall.

Our most-requested feature is finally here! At the end of each practice, CrewNerd will now automatically upload your workout data to all of your connected training sites (Strava, Concept2, etc.) by default. If you want to opt out, just go to the settings page for the site(s) you want to skip and uncheck the "Automatic upload" switch. Pro tip: if you run CrewNerd on an old phone without cell service, stop the timer at the end of your workout, but then wait to press "End practice" until you have WiFi access.

CrewNerd can now export workout data as FIT files. The FIT format is the most comprehensive and accurate format available, so we recommend using it whenever possible. Strava uploads are now performed using FIT rather than TCX, which means that elapsed time and moving time are now distinguished correctly in your Strava activities.
