A piano that meows. Three real cats on the keys, ten fingers at once, and your own recording played in tune. No ads, no account, nothing collected.
A piano that meows. Every key is a real cat, in tune.
Cat Piano is the piano from April 2009, back for today's iPhone and iPad. Three cats were recorded meowing, and the app turns each into a whole keyboard: tap a key and that cat sings that note. Chords, tunes, ten fingers at once, a glissando with the side of your hand. It sounds exactly as silly as it should.
THREE CATS
A tabby kitten, a white cat and a calico, the same recordings as in 2009. Choose one on the flip side and hear its own voice; then every key plays it at the right pitch.
REAL KEYS
The keys are drawn in the proportions of the original: ivory with a front edge, bevelled black keys, keys that travel when pressed. Every finger is tracked on its own, so you can play chords, slide across the keys, and let a meow ring to its end while the next one starts. Twelve keys as in 2009, or 24 or 36 from middle C.
YOUR OWN CAT
Record your own cat, your dog, a friend, a door, anything, for up to four seconds, or choose an audio file. The app finds the pitch of the sound and the keys play it in tune. The recording stays on your device.
MELODIES
Six tunes play themselves in the voice you chose, the keys lighting up as they go: Twinkle Twinkle, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Ode to Joy, Happy Birthday and more, at the speed you like.
SINCE 2009
Cat Piano was one of the first pianos on the App Store and one of the most downloaded, with millions of downloads and a second place in Japan for the iPad edition. This is the same piano, rebuilt: the same cats, on an engine that pitches them live instead of one file per key. The kitten on the first screen is the same kitten.
PRIVACY
No data is collected. No account, no ads, no tracking. The microphone is used only when you tap Record, and what you record never leaves your device.
Cat Piano 2.0 is a new app on the record that began in April 2009. The three cats are the original recordings, now pitched live to every key, so the keyboard can have 12, 24 or 36 keys and stay in tune. Ten fingers at once, and sliding across the keys. Record your own cat, or any sound, and play it. Six melodies that play themselves with the keys lighting up. Built for today's iPhone and iPad.
