Dedicating this to the wonderful staff of Air Canada !!!
SumanBKassis
Thank you for the care packages and thanks to Air Canada 🇨🇦 wonderful staff and that is not just today every time I go with them, I feel your team sets an example of what it means to really feel you can actually be happy and safe traveling and most importantly safe during this pandemic. Even though I felt I was seeing staff look like a scene of health workers from the hospital , their smile and politeness towards the travels was a testament to how well Air Canada operates. It would be nice if you would consider making a change in 2021 that is adding free breakfast meal to the domestic line as well and not just the business which I had the experience of getting during my seat change request not knowing I would land in the business section. I enjoyed the breakfast while constantly thinking of people in domestic who don’t get one. I hope you consider making this change and add free breakfast for domestic line too. Thank you once again for a wonderful and safe flight.
Great app but dissatisfied with customer service
M. Batchelor
This app is wonderful & makes the process with flights seamless. It’s incredibly user friendly. The customer service however has been extremely disappointing & a horrible experience so far. Our bags until now are lost, it’s been 7 days since arriving in Zurich & we’ve heard absolutely nothing from air Canada. This is very unprofessional & has ruined our trip. Our return flight is in 2 days & I fear that our bags will be lost forever. No one has contacted us even if we’ve filed a report & obviously no update since the report was filed either. Air Canada definitely needs to get this resolved or I believe they will have many law suits coming their way as we are definitely not the only passengers to experience this. It’s a great airline, air plane & flights staff are wonderful BUT if you are flying air Canada DO NOT check your bags in!!
Not what it was a few months ago
rmck07
YXE was fine. In YYX, the Signature lounge had such a long line to get in, that many people gave up and went elsewhere (which, thankfully did make the line shorter). However, once seated for a nice dinner, “entertainment” was provided by several families that included screaming babies, small children who ran around everyone, and teenagers talking with friends on their phones! The boarding process went extremely smoothly, and a cabin staff member even asked if she could help put my carry-on bag in the overhead bin. But, that was the last spontaneous service. During the next six hours, there was no offer of a second small bottle of water. One had to ask for something to drink with breakfast, and only after the dishes were cleared did a tea bag in a cup of hot water appear. No offer of any sweetener, and no saucer on which to put the tea bag in order to drink the cup of tea! Maybe I missed it, but this was not the wonderful Air Canada experience we have grown to enjoy an expect. And, I don’t think it can be reasonably attributed to the increased price of jet fuel.
Can’t add Aeroplan to wallet if region is not set to Canada and app uses too much bandwidth
jsonlinter
Apparently, AC won’t let you add your Aeroplan card to the iOS wallet unless your phone region is set to Canada. So for us expats that live in the USA but travel to Canada frequently we can’t collect points on affiliate purchases without carrying a physical card and pulling it out like a caveman. Also, the app requires way too much data bandwidth to operate properly or at all and that can be a HUGE problem at places like airports where both mobile and WiFi hotspots can be overburdened. Places like Austin and San Francisco and even Toronto airports all suffer from these issues. Literally couldn’t use the app at AUS just recently because 4g, 5g, and airport WiFi were just swamped. It’s like the people that designed this app don’t travel and test the app in the real world.
Developer Response
RESPONSE TO AN EARLIER REVIEW (Sep 8, 2020):Thank you for your feedback regarding check-in and boarding pass. After you've checked-in (using the app), the boarding pass becomes available in the app and can be found at the bottom of every screen for quick and easy access. Boarding passes stored in the app are also available offline. You shouldn't need to retrieve them through the check-in window. The app will also automatically attempt to retrieve boarding passes if your booking is saved in the app (in Trips), but you can manually add your boarding pass to the app by following these steps: From 'Home' tab, press the menu button in the top left corner, then press 'Boarding passes'. From the 'Boarding passes' screen, press 'Add boarding pass' and provide your booking reference number and last name, then press 'Add'.We'll be making some improvements in this area over the next few releases, but in the meantime - let us know if the steps listed above worked for you.Questions? Write us at mobile@aircanada.ca, and please include "App Store Review from jsonlinter" in the subject line, so that we can follow up.---FOLLOW UP (Oct 5, 2020)Thank you for your updated feedback regarding the app. At every app start, the app automatically pulls/fetches the latest information for all bookings in the app, as well as retrieves updates for flight status, and Aeroplan profile if you're logged in. This means that a few seconds after the app starts, it is always showing the latest and correct information for your booking, flights, and profile. To let you know that everything updated correctly (or not), we display the last updated time on all screens which pull information from these backend systems. Look for the "Updated less than a minute ago" messaging, which usually appears near the top of the screen. If this information cannot be updated, then you'll see a different message, such as "Updated more than an hour ago".Even with the tips we provided earlier, it sounds like the app isn't working as well as expected for you. We're sorry to hear that. In our earlier reply, we asked that you kindly reach out by email - but we haven't received anything from you yet. If you have suggestions for improvement, found a bug, would like some help troubleshooting or just need someone to talk to about the app then please write us at mobile@aircanada.ca, and include "App Store Review from jsonlinter" in the subject line, so that we can follow up.---FOLLOW UP (Oct 19, 2020)Hello jsonlinter, we still haven't heard from you! Get in touch anytime by writing us at mobile@aircanada.ca, and please include "App Store Review from jsonlinter" in the subject line, so that we can follow up.
