EZ Budget
When and where money went?!
$1.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Two questions, answered fast: where did my money go, and how much is left?
Set an amount and watch the piggy bank empty. No accounts, no bank logins, nothing collected.
Where did my money go? And how much do I have left? EZ Budget answers both in the time it takes to walk out of a store.
Name an amount ($1,000 for a holiday, $200 for the weekly shop) and a piggy bank on screen slowly empties as you spend it. No accounts. No bank logins. No sign-up, no ads, nothing collected. Just an honest running total of what's left.
KEEP SEVERAL BUDGETS AT ONCE
The weekly shop and a night away are two different things. Keep as many budgets as you like, side by side: Vacation, Groceries, Kids' School. Each has its own amount, its own total and its own piggy bank, so spending on the holiday leaves the monthly budget untouched. Switch between them on the Spend It! screen or at the top of Details, Places and Categories: every list, chart and map then shows that budget and nothing else.
WORLDWIDE CURRENCIES
Wherever you are, EZ Budget uses your currency. Dollars, euros, pounds, yen, won, dinars: your money, the way your country writes it.
FAST ENOUGH THAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO IT
Tap Spend It!, type the amount, hit Save. That's the whole ritual. A description and a category are optional, because a purchase you never bothered to record tells you nothing.
A BUDGET YOU CAN READ AT A GLANCE
Numbers are abstract. A draining piggy bank is not. The bank has ten coin levels, and every tenth of your budget spent drops it one step. The message underneath is color coded too: green while more than half is left, yellow under half, red once you've gone over, showing exactly by how much. No math, no squinting.
SEE WHERE IT ALL WENT
Details: every purchase with date, time and a running total that stays pinned as you scroll. Sort by date, category or amount with one tap. Swipe to delete, and every total corrects itself instantly.
Categories: Groceries, Gas, Coffee, or any you invent, shared across your budgets. Rename one and every past purchase follows along. Bar chart or pie chart, your pick.
Places: an optional map of where each purchase happened. Months later, "$42" means far more when you can see it was the gas station on the corner.
CIRCLE A NEIGHBORHOOD WITH YOUR FINGER
How much did that weekend in downtown really cost? Draw a loop around it on the map and your list, your charts and your totals narrow to just what you spent inside it. Stack it with a category filter and ask sharper questions: what did we spend on food, in just that one town?
TWO WAYS TO RUN IT
Just tracking: write down what you spend and the app adds it up. Nothing to set up; open it and start.
Counting down: set a limit and watch it fall to zero.
LOCK IT WITH A PIN
An optional four-digit lock means you can hand your phone to someone else without handing over the rules. They spend normally, but the budget can't be raised, purchases can't be deleted, and tracking can't be switched off. Kids find this fair: they record every purchase and watch the piggy bank empty, and the budget stays the budget. Turns out that's the fastest way anyone learns to budget, by watching it happen.
EMAILING TRANSACTIONS
Open Settings, tap Email All Transactions, and your mail app opens with a spreadsheet attached: one row per purchase, with the date, description, category, budget, amount and where you were. A second button sends just the budget you're on. Send it to yourself as a backup, or on to anyone who needs it, then open it in Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets. The file is built on your phone and goes nowhere until you tap send.
ONE MORE THING
Shake the phone. If there's still money in the budget, you get a jingle. Overspent, and it stays quiet. Kids find this in seconds and will demonstrate it to you repeatedly.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Everything stays on your phone. No account, no bank login, no ads, no analytics, nothing collected. Nothing leaves the device until you tap send on an email you wrote yourself.
Set the amount. Then just spend, and glance.
EZ Budget does not provide financial advice. It helps you track what you spend and stay inside a limit you set.
Ratings & Reviews
• Keep several budgets at once. Vacation, Groceries, Kids' School: each with its own amount, its own total and its own piggy bank, so spending on the holiday leaves the monthly budget untouched.
• Pick the one you're using on the Spend It! screen, or at the top of Details, Places and Categories, and the whole app follows it. Add, rename and delete budgets in Settings under Manage Budgets.
• Worldwide currencies. Wherever you are, EZ Budget uses your currency.
• Clear now empties only the budget you're on, and leaves the rest alone.
• Turning Track My Budget off no longer deletes anything. Those purchases are kept in a list of their own, and your budgets are as you left them when you turn it back on.
• Email Transactions for the budget you're on, or all of them at once. The spreadsheet has a Budget column now.
• Search in Help: type a word and go straight to the answer.
• Lock your budget with a PIN - nobody can raise it, wipe it or turn it off. Writing down purchases still works as normal.
• Label what you buy and see where the money really goes, as a bar or pie chart. Show only the categories you want.
• Circle part of the map with your finger to see just what you spent there.
• Your list now totals itself up at the top, and you can tap to sort by date, category or amount.
• Email All Transactions - send yourself a spreadsheet of every purchase you've recorded, straight from Settings.
• Friendly Help right inside the app, whenever you need it.
