Shortly has been rebuilt from the ground up. A new look, your way: Five color themes to choose from in Settings, each with light and dark modes. Cleaner screens, bigger tap targets, and a layout that adapts to iPhone, iPad and the new iPhone Duo. Shorten faster: Paste or type a link (no need for https://), add a title and tags, pick a branded domain, and choose a custom back-half if your plan includes one. Your short link is ready to copy, share, or track. Charts you'll actually read: Every link has a stats page with clicks over time (drag to see any day), top countries and referrers, the hours and days people click, and a range switch for 24 hours to 90 days. History rows show a 7-day sparkline and click count at a glance. Shorten from anywhere: • Share sheet: shorten from any app, with the link copied for you. • Safari extension: a toolbar button and a "Shorten with Shortly" menu on any link. • Shortcuts and Siri: Shorten Link, Get Link Clicks, and Copy Latest Link. • Widgets: your latest link and your top link, on the Home Screen and Lock Screen. • Live Activity: tap Track on a new link and watch clicks count up on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Manage your links: Search your history, see your top links of the week, edit titles and tags, archive links, and create QR codes. Settings shows how much of your Bitly plan you've used this month.

We've added a new share extension for Safari so you can shorten links directly in the browser. Just find "Shorten URL" in the share sheet action list in Safari. There's also a tutorial on how it work in the Settings screen if you'd like more information.

Announcing the launch of the next version of Bit.ly Tools — now called Shorty! The app has been completely re-written from top to bottom with a focus on ease of use, an updated user interface, new system-wide Activity Extension, 3D Touch and more — all with full support for iOS 10. This new version of the app requires a Bitly account to ensure it can accurately track your URL shortening history, allow Bitlink information lookup and enable you to see your shortened URLs on the Bitly website as well. If you don't have a Bitly account, there's a button on the Account screen in the app that takes you to the Bitly website to sign up. It's quick and free to get an account! The new features in Shortly include: • Brand new user interface • Better tracking and attribution of your short URLs in your account • New account sign in/sign up experience • 3D Touch actions added to the app icon • Enhanced history feature with charts • System-wide Shorten URL app extension — shorten URLs directly from Safari • Swipe left on a history item to quickly copy the Bitlink • More reliable Auto Shorten to create a Bitlink from any regular link that's already on your clipboard when you launch the app This new version has been in the works for a while and there are more features in store, in particular for history, charting and enhancements to the system-wide Shorten URL extension. Changed the Account screen to use the work API Key instead of Developer Key when referring to the bit.ly API key as this was causing some confusion. Added an "info" icon next to the API Key field on the Account screen that when tapped, brings up a help window describing what the bit.ly API Key is and why you need it. Optimized some of the API calls we make to the bit.ly service to help with application performance. New "Auto Shorten" feature! You can now go into the Settings screen and find a new feature called Auto Shorten. If you turn this feature on, the Bit.ly Tools application will look on the clipboard when it launches, and if it finds a valid URL already on the clipboard, it will automatically shorten it and place it on the clipboard at the same time so it is immediately ready for use.
