DAS, or "Disease Activity Score," is a measure of the activity of rheumatoid arthritis. Based on the work of the Department of Rheumatology at the University Medical Centre at Nigmegen (Netherlands), a validated tool (formula) was developed to evaluate and track Rheumatoid Arthritis disease activity. By measuring the tender and swollen joint counts (TJC & SJC respectively), CRP (c-reactive protein) and General Health, the DAS 28-4 gives an estimate of disease activity, while the DAS 28-3 uses just the TJC, SJC & CRP. Clinicians, rheumatologists in training, educators and researchers use this tool everyday and now you can have it readily available on your Apple mobile device.

It allows for measurement of several different variables in different combinations which allow calculation of the DAS Score. The DAS Score is a standard measurement of Rheumatoid Arthritis Disease Activity. This tool calculates the DAS Score quickly and efficiently and is well designed to be used in real-world settings while seeing patients as well as in clinical research settings. I highly recommend this to anyone who takes care of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

The app is an excellent DAS calculator. It's easy to use and beautifully designed. Even the icon is gorgeous. I use this app in practice and highly recommend it. You get a few of the scores for free and for a ridiculously low price of a buck you can have the complete set of disease activity related scores. If you're a rheumatologist and don't have this on your iPhone, shame on you; if you can't afford it, email me and I'll buy it for you.

Most common das calculators ( like the esr based) are locked and the apps promted to get the pro ( pay per view) apps. Considering the formulas are not complex, it's not a good deal at all.
