Better than Apple News App
Village dave
Howdy Folks,Regardless of your political views or leaning, most would agree that they would prefer not to be force fed any view or opinion, but rather, would like to make decisions on their own. A news app appeared on my phone. I didn’t download it or choose it. Ok, no problem. I tried it out, and picked from a slew of interests, such as Men’s Health or Wired. The app was new to me and I expected to get posts from those e-mags, but nope, it didn’t happen. It was constant political fodder being forced into my feed. All of it was extremely liberal, which I don’t mind left views, but it was constant. I tried to cancel or shut off certain feeds, and nope, they were back. I tried to choose the crossed heart icon for dislike, did that for a while thinking it would eventually discontinue the feed, but nope. I know someone reading this is thinking, just don’t open the app! But I didn’t install it, and when I would swipe to the left to check the weather, there would be all these headlines I didn’t ask for, eating up my data, and I could not silence it. Today I deleted it, looked on line and others also complained about Apple Force-Feeding their news feed. But they also mentioned Flipboard being an alternative so I’m giving it a try. It should also be mentioned that Apple doesn’t allow you to rate or write a review on its news app.In conclusion and closing, it’s not the message that bothered me, but the apparent Agenda. It wouldn’t matter if it were left or right, please don’t shout in my ear telling me what to think. I might even agree with you, but forcing me to listen, in the privacy of my phone, is the issue.
ISO flipboard without the ads
IHateLeavingBadReviews
I’ve been a long-time user of this app and loved it, except... The ads have increased to a point where I can’t get articles to load — at all. Or, the font is so small, that I need to expand the view, and then an ad pops up on the same stinkin article and blocks the entire view panel, I have to reduce the size, close the NEWLY added ad to the page, readjust the page view so I can go back to read it. This happens on nearly EVERY article opened anymore. It’s such a PITA, I’m out here on the app store looking for an alternative to Flipboard and leaving this review. I bet I’ve been an almost daily Flipboard user for almost a decade. IOS user here. I work in tech, work from home, this is not an issue with my home internet/ecosystem or my own hardware, but a Flipboard problem for the ads and page not loading for articles. I’d say this is around 25% of the time currently (article doesn’t load at all). The ads making it so frustrating to read a single article because they move around the text on the page, pop up in the middle of what you’re reading and then have to be closed to re-find where it was you were in the middle of a long article, or sometimes even shoving you back up to the top of the page after the new ad loads — occurs approximately 95% of the time anymore. Even for free, this platform isn’t worth my time anymore.

I signed up for Flipboard when you first came out I was very impressed by the number of topics you covered not just the same thing over and over somehow you got lost in the lovely iPhone mess when the 11 iOS system was added In any case I refound you in the past couple of days and I have to say I’m a little concerned about the approach to the topics you cover it’s become very provincial one-sided perhaps it’s a sign of the times but the very thing I liked about what you did you are now doing the opposite when I read articles on something I like to see the information I can always make my own judgments it seems now that you are being very critical in a judgmental way not in an educational way. We are a nation that has been dumbed down more and more and maybe for good reason but I think it’s also dangerous it’s like Facebook and fake news and all these other things that are coming out now people as Shakespeare’s would say the mob Are very easily influenced ( fickle)and if they r told the same thing over and over they actually get to believe it. So please if you are going to cover a controversial issue get different opinions not just the same side. Also I thought I had already sent this days ago because when I made a comment today mine was the only one that had underneath it remove comment. Why was that it wasn’t belligerent or distasteful wordage and also every time somebody makes a comment on a subject I make a comment on I get a notification about that I don’t need that really I do not find that necessary actually it’s quite distracting.
