New version allows you to share both chosen teams by email/text and share the game players and ratings with others!
Do you play friendly pickup sports, like hockey, soccer or basketball? Would you like help choosing which players to be on each team, so that everyone enjoys the game? TeamChooser will select the teams and make sure the game is fair. TeamChooser will work for pretty much any two-team game you can think of: rugby scrimmages, volleyball, baseball, and flag football.
TeamChooser uses a specialized algorithm developed over 16 years of experimentation and revision.
Here’s how it works: enter the name of each player and give a rating for their level of effectiveness. At game time, you indicate who is there to play. Then, push a button and TeamChooser’s proprietary technology will divide the players into two perfectly-balanced teams. Everyone will have fun, not just the players on the winning team!
If you wish, you can balance the number of offense and defense players on each team, and you can pre-assign players to a specific team. If players show up after teams have been made, TeamChooser lets you freeze the assignments and add the new players to the teams. Also, you can manage any number of games, each with different players.

App has crashed twice on me when I first started using it. Also whenever I try to add players and press "save" my players aren't being added.

I run a pick up mens hockey group, where each week, different players are present for the games. Picking even, fair teams has always been a challenge. With Team Chooser, I input the possible players, indicate if they are offense or defense (to ensure both teams have enough D) and then assign a numeric value to each player based on their impact on the game. (The app has great guidance on this critical part of the process) Then I create a game for that date, check off the players who will be playing and hit the pick teams button. Voila! Fair balanced teams are set. The app evens out the defense on both sides and we are good to go. There is a tweak button that swaps evenly ranked players as well. You can also pre assign a player or players (like the team captains) so they always end up on opposite sides, Its really slick. Plus the creators of the app are ready willing and able to offer support and assistance. I've been running this group for 30+ years and have used any number of technologies to try to make things work better and this app is the best by far! Check it out!
Two important improvements: 1) you can now send/share the chosen teams, through a text file, by email or any app that accepts a text file. No more copying the names to send out!
2) You can share the games with other TeamChooser users by exporting a CSV (comma separated file) to them via email, and they can import it into team chooser. Also, you can use a spreadsheet editor to edit the CSV file and use it to discuss with others who don't run TeamChooser.
Also, there is now only one algorithm - the previously named 'super optimizer' is the only one available.
