I am a new bass player and bought an iRig2 from guitar center. I figured it was a great way to get started with an "amp" without breaking the bank. It would also give me a way to figure out what I like from an amp before I purchase one. The iRig2 works great but I’m disappointed in the AmpliTube app. There is only one bass amp that comes with the version, that comes with the product. I have the volume turned all the way up on my iPad and in the app and I can barely hear it. My Bose headphones work just fine. I don’t need it ear piercing but I can hear my strings just as loud as the sound coming from the app. I have to crank the gain up to get more volume. I do have the noise filter pedal activated and all the way up. I can’t get a good, clean bass tone. I tried the other guitar amps in the app "just to see." Those get a lot louder but of course, there’s lot of distortion. I know that there are in app purchases and yes, nothing can ultimately take the place of a real amplifier. This is a mediocre, on-the-run choice. But this is highly disappointing. The app needs at LEAST one more bass amp if I’m going to purchase a product. The app needs to get louder for bass players. The app needs to have something to provide a good, clean sound. Perhaps something could be made that is geared towards bass players. I will not buy a product that has AmpliTube as the app choice again. I will be looking at other apps for my iPad. If I’m going to have to make an in-app purchase to get something that’s even decent, why would I do that when I can just buy an amp? If you play electric guitar this is a pretty neat option. It’s less than decent for bass players.

This is great for when you want to travel with your guitar and don’t want to lug an amplifier. The sound is only as strong as the speaker wattage. Hardwiring into Portable Bluetooth speakers will work better than headphones. A home audio receiver will work better than Bluetooth. A powerful car bass amp is golden to plug into as well. Use quality guitar and Standard 2.5mm to RCA cables.

I can’t believe I paid money for this. It is extremely complicated, to the point that it’s usually not even working. There is no support or help.
