As a lifelong paper hoarder and educator, Camscanner has pretty much saved me from drowning in binders and file folders. I have the paid version, and it’s easily one of the most useful subscriptions I’ve invested in.I’ve used it to digitize years’ worth of AP conference notebooks and materials, which are now neatly organized and available to my campus teachers in digital format. Instead of digging through boxes or tracking down a binder, I can just scan, upload, and share a link. My colleagues can freely and easily access everything they need from anywhere.My favorite feature is the ability to pull text out of handwritten notes. I take a quick scan, let Camscanner work its magic, and suddenly my scribbles become searchable, editable text I can drop into emails, docs, or slides. For someone who still loves writing by hand but wants the convenience of digital, that’s huge.Camscanner has turned piles of paper into a clean, searchable digital library. If you’re someone who lives in notebooks, prints everything, or wants a simple way to share materials with others, the paid account is absolutely worth it.
CamScanner Free version highjacking my files

For several years, I have been a cam scanner free version user. Cam scanner is relentlessly trying to make me purchase its yearly subscription. The exit icon is hidden behind the signal bars top left corner of my phone screen it will not allow you to tap it when it demands you pay or else. It saddens me that it appears this once great app has become a scam. I have been able to get around this huge inconvenience by turning off my cell service and anything else that connects me to the world and then I have gone back click continue and then it realizes it’s not able to connect and I get a screen that says unable to proceed and then I can go about my business. NOW, It has seemed to learn this and I am completely locked out. This time well myCellular and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and hotspot was turned off,A call came in and so did a text. How is that possible? Has this app now manipulated my phone? While taking the call, I turned on the airplane mode and then the call went dead. The only option that I can see is to pay the ransom to recover my files, but there is no evidence that after I pay this thing, will I have complete access while obtaining a few extra options. I do not like this app I will never use it again; gloat about it like I had for years. I have read that you can find the hidden .bak File but it is nowhere to be found and even if I did, I’m reading that it’s not possible to solve the issue going that direction. I’m really ticked off that an advertised free app is taking over my files in hours of my time.

Do not need to purchase a scanner anymore

This app rocks. It is a tad bit pushy on trying to get you to pay to unlock additional features, but overall the amount of capability it provides out if the box, free, is excellent. Before, I was taking pictures via phone camera app of all my documents and then painstakingly uploading to my computer, reducing image sizes, and grouping pictures into pdfs — and still the end result pdf file sizes were frustratingly large and the quality subpar. With this app, I can easily batch scan each document into its own collection, it automatically identifies the document portion within the image and crops to it, applies a filter that tremendously enhances readability, and then offers several export options at which point I choose to airdrop as pdf to my Mac pc. And the resulting pdf is a reasonable size. I’d highly recommend giving this app a try for your scanning needs, it’s free. The one downside is without paying you get a watermark at the bottom right of the doc, but personally that doesn’t bother me too much.

I used to love CamScanner and it helped me a lot during my undergrad study. At that time it was free and handy. I haven't been using it for a while and today I needed to scan some paperwork into PDF so I opened it. I knew that in current CS PDF files will be watermarked in the free version (I'm totally fine with that and I'd like to support good apps) so this time I didn't think much and directly paid for the premium version. However, things went weird when I preview the PDF file after scanning all the paper: In the old CS, I never changed any setting for PDF size: all the paper I scanned will be converted into the same A4 size and will fill the page automatically. But now, pages don't auto-fill anymore, the system identifies these A4 paper I scanned as different sizes and then put them in the A4 canvas, so there are awkward white blank spaces around them. I tried to change the PDF page size to Auto Fit. This time the white spaces are gone, but all pages have different widths. In the end, in order to unify the PDF page size, I have to switch back to A4 page size and change the filter to Magiccolor (I preferred grayscale because it was clearer) so the white spaces around the paper are not obvious. I don't know if it was just me failed to figure out the right way to do this, but anyway, all I'm trying to say is: this experience was horrible and frustrating. As a user, I just want to easily make a normal standard PDF file that all pages are same-sized and have no awkward blank space around them. As an ordinary person, I can't shoot every picture at the same distance and angel! There is no way for me to control the size of the page I scanned so please do the job for me!
