myTracks is the swiss-army knife for organizing your GPS tracks. They can be loaded from a broad range of devices and organized in a library comfortably.
Once imported you can drag & drop photo files to myTracks and they will be assigned to the GPS tracks automatically. The GPS information can be written to the EXIF and IPTC tags of the photo files (Geotagging). You can use any photo organizing software such as Photos, iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, GraphicConverter or even the Finder. myTracks can handle both JPEG and RAW file formats.
GPS tracks can be exported as GPX, KML or KMZ files. You can use the exported files, e.g. with Google Earth.
Besides the dedicated GPS loggers a free iPhone App called "myTracks - The GPS logger" is available on the App Store. You can use this App to record GPS tracks.
Using iCloud you can easily synchronise all your tracks between all your devices (iOS and macOS).
See the supporting website for more screenshots, screencasts and the complete list of supported loggers.
Feature Highlights:
* Logger Assistant with more than 50 presets for downloading GPS tracks
* Search, bookmark, and organize using the Track Library
* 1-click, drag & drop geotagging of JPEG and RAW photo files
* Display tracks on a wide variety of maps online and offline
* Import, export, and edit tracks in GPX and KML formats and export of KMZ formats
* Upload photos from within the application to flickr
* Compatible with Adobe Lightroom, Apple Photos, Apple Aperture, Apple iPhoto, GraphicConverter or macOS Finder
* Free versions for iOS include track recording and sync with macOS application
* iCloud support
more EDIT: Please update the app for El Capitan. The app has evolved since I first purchased it in 2011. I love the iCloud integration—now tracks and pictures sync across devices. Thanks! As I have noted in my review for the iOS version, my biggest wish is that the app would sync the POIs to iCloud/iOS. Currently I have to use an additional GPS app on my iOS devices to sync POIs. Also, I recently started messing around with the tagging options for the tracks, but I am not sure there is any purpose to them as I do not see a search bar where I could quickly find a track via a tag. It seems this could be implemented given such functionality exists for POIs. My final recomendations pertain to the user interface. As is, the app is great and completely functioning piece of software. However, it could also use a cosmetic refresh to make it more ‘Apple’ like. By that I mean with more viewing options that are ‘softer’ on the eyes than a simple grid-list of tracks (see new Photos app or Rubitrack for Mac as examples). Relatedly, there should be more typical Mac shortcuts for consistency, such as Command-I. As is, hitting Command-I when a track or POI is selected opens up Finder to Open a file where it should bring up information and fields for edting about the track or POI (similar to iTunes or most other Mac programs). Again, thanks for the good work you have put into this app. I hope it continues to receive support.

I've been a heavy GPS user for years and am always on the lookout for good tools to managae my library of GPX tracks and waypoints and geotag my photos. myTracks has held the number one spot in my GPS toolbox for years now and the developer has been very responsive and recently added a feature I wanted. If you're even an occasional GPSer get myTracks - it's indispensible!

I recently decided that I wanted to record GPS data in my photos. After some looking around, instead of buying a dedicated GPS unit, I bought a GPS receiver/datalogger (Holux M1000c). I really liked that it records travel data in addition to providing the GPS coordinates to the camera. It works great - the only issue is that the software that came with it is Windows only, and (at least for me) required connection to my bluetooth-less computer via a usb cable. I really wanted something to work on the Mac wirelessly. myTracks is it! I tried the demo to make sure the M1000c would work since it was not mentioned as a compatible unit (although the M241 - also Holux - was mentioned). It works! I had to follow the video included with myTracks to make the bluetooth connection between the M1000c and the Mac, but it was painless. This is exactly what I was looking for and then some. To get the GPS tagged photos included in the track is as easy as dragging the selected photos over the myTracks icon. I use Lightroom 3. For portability, myTracks allows you to sync tracks and photos with an iOS device using the free myTracks app. The myTracks app seems a little sluggish on the iPad and may need some refining, but is very functional. Quality of the photos is very good and they can be viewed as thumbnails in the track, or fullscreen. (For real portability, maybe a future version will allow connection from the datalogger to the iOS device directly)I wish I had this during my previous trips to Europe and California and am looking forward to using it in upcoming travels. Great App.

I use this program to tag photos after hikes or other outdoor activites in conjunction with a GPS watch (Garmin 405). Basically you import the GPS file in GPX format and then drag the photos from iPhoto. There are a few easy steps and seconds later all of your photos are tagged to the exact location that they were taken from. The main trick is to keep your watch and camera clocks set at the exact same time. If you don't do this you have to go in and adjust the time stamps which is annoying. For city pics I use an eye-fi card. This program gives great results at a good price. Highly recommended.

- The individual track points of the selected track are no longer shown in a view on the right hand side but they are shown as sortable table below the map. This view is similar to the view provided in myTracks 3. However, this new table is much more flexible because you can a) sort the table and b) select multiple track points. E.g. you can sort the table by 'Speed' or 'Elevation' to easily find track points which are outlier.
