Drop a PDF or a photo of a receipt, invoice or bill, and ReceiptBox reads the merchant, date, total and tax on your Mac. Check it in Needs Review, then see where your money goes and get the numbers you need at tax time.
CAPTURE IN SECONDS
• Drop photos and PDFs on the window or the Dock icon, paste them from Mail, or choose Add to ReceiptBox in Finder.
• Several pages? Import them as one receipt.
• Scan with your iPhone: take a photo or scan a document straight into ReceiptBox.
• Drag receipt emails from Mail. Each one is kept as a PDF with its attachments.
• Keep web page receipts from the PDF menu of any print window.
• With Pro, a watched folder turns the files your scanner saves into receipts by themselves.
READS YOUR RECEIPTS, ON YOUR MAC
• Merchant, date, total, tax, tip, payment method and card digits are filled in for you.
• PDFs with text are read from the text itself. Photos are read with the Mac's text recognition, helped by Apple Intelligence on Macs that have it.
• New receipts wait in Needs Review, with anything uncertain highlighted. Confirm and move to the next one with a single shortcut.
• Possible duplicates are flagged so you can remove them.
NEVER MISS A MONTHLY BILL
• Recurring Bills shows which bills arrived and which are still missing.
• Monthly, quarterly or yearly bills, with the usual amount and day, so a price increase stands out.
ORGANIZED THE WAY TAXES WORK
• Books for each tax year, business, person or HSA, with optional spending targets and a forecast to year end.
• Categories that map to Schedule C lines, with deductible percentages such as 50% for business meals.
• Tags, saved searches, business or personal, and reimbursement tracking.
• Name your cards, including the numbers Apple Pay uses on your iPhone and Apple Watch, and every receipt shows which card paid.
• Merchants remember your usual category, so the next receipt from the same store is faster. Rename a merchant and all of its receipts follow.

• Spending by month compared with last year, by category, and by merchant.
• A tax summary per Schedule C line, ready for your accountant.
• Export to Excel with category and tax summaries, to CSV, to a PDF report with receipt images, or the original files named by date, merchant and amount. CSV amounts can be negative, as personal finance apps expect.
• Print a single receipt or a full report.

SAFE AND PRIVATE
• Your receipts stay on your Mac, or in your own private iCloud database if you turn on sync. ReceiptBox has no server and collects no data.
• Optional iCloud sync keeps one library on all your Macs.
• Automatic daily backups, each one checked before it counts, and you can restore any of them.
• Keep a copy of every receipt as ordinary files in a folder you choose, by year and named by date, merchant and amount, with a spreadsheet of every receipt's details, so your receipts never depend on any app.
UPGRADING FROM RECEIPTBOX 2
• Your library comes along the first time you open ReceiptBox 3, and the totals of every book are checked against it. Your old library is never changed.

Email receipts, named cards, iPhone scanning, and your original files, free.
• Email receipts: drag a receipt email from Mail into ReceiptBox. The message is kept as a PDF with its attachments, and read like any other receipt. Nothing in it is loaded from the internet, so opening it in ReceiptBox doesn't tell the sender
• Add to ReceiptBox in Finder: select files, right-click and choose Services > Add to ReceiptBox
• Web page receipts: choose ReceiptBox in the PDF menu of any print window, and the page becomes a receipt
• Cards: give each credit card a name and add every number it shows up under, including the separate numbers Apple Pay uses on your iPhone and Apple Watch. Receipts and exports then show which card paid
• Scan with your iPhone works: choose File > Import from iPhone, then Take Photo or Scan Documents
• Keep Copies in a Folder: choose a folder in Settings > Backups, and every receipt's photos and PDFs are kept there as ordinary files, in a folder for each year, with a spreadsheet (Receipts.csv) of every receipt's details, up to date as you add and edit receipts
• Watched Folder (Pro): choose the folder your scanner saves to in Settings > Watched Folder, and every photo, PDF or email saved there becomes a receipt, then moves into its Imported folder. Turn off the file types you want left alone
• Exporting the original photos and PDFs, named by date, merchant and amount, is now free for everyone
• CSV export can write amounts as negative numbers, as personal finance apps expect
• Put your categories in any order: drag them, or sort them A to Z in Settings > Categories
• Dates written day first, such as 21 July 2026, are now read
