Description

MacWorld GEM - Disk Diet safely and quickly frees up gigabytes of wasted disk space.

It's a common factor with most Mac users that at some point the drive will run out of space. When this happens, it's difficult to find which files are safe to remove, especially trying to hunt through multiple folders looking for them. Disk Diet does all this in about a minute, while searching through all these areas:

• Application Logs
• System Logs
• Caches
• Trash
• Downloads
• Mail Downloads
• Old iOS Software Updates
• Unused applications
• Unused language translations from applications
• Developer Folders from Xcode
• iPhoto Trash

Disk Diet was first released as the original disk cleaning app for macOS in 2011 and we've been updating it ever since. Now, it's 2021 and it's ready for macOS Big Sur and Apple Silicon. Awarded a MacWorld GEM, and with over 100,000 downloads, it's the premier disk utility that all Mac users need to have.

We offer quick and easy support if there are any questions or issues. Please feel free to email us anytime and we'll do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.

Just works

Love this app. It’s my first go-to when my drive is getting tight on space, before even emptying the trash since it does that for you. Really effective at scouring the contents of all those directories under ~/Library that I don’t want to think about myself.

Helpful in tight situations :-)

I’m not sure that this gets rid of absolutely all things that are probably unnecessary for most people, but it does categorize them and give you simple choices.

Does absolutely nothing!

It does not even delete my trash folder! I have enable the program to have all access in the Security and Privacy Settings, yet it does not do a thing. Every time I run the program it says the same thing. Free up 242 megabytes. I ‘click’ diet, program does it thing, then I run it again, and it says free up 242 megabytes again. I looked at my available hard drive space and it never changes! This is a complete waste of money!

Developer Response ,

We're sorry to hear you aren't enjoying Disk Diet. It sounds like it could be the Caches area that will get rebuilt automatically by certain apps. The idea is the app can clean out the caches that aren't needed anymore to free up space. When you get a chance, please email support so we can get this fixed up for you.
