"It is a must-have app for all Macs that will be used in school, library, and public places!"
As long as beQUIET is running, your Mac's internal speakers are muted. Meanwhile, you may still listen through your headphone jack.
Simpto says, beQUIET only mutes your internal speakers in any condition.
beQUIET is designed for journalists, teachers, students, and other Macbook users who want to hear the sound but do not want to disturb others, such as in meetings, classrooms, courts, lectures, and theaters.
Benefiting from your Mac's high-end hardware design, beQUIET guarantees that your speakers stay quiet and your headphones work no matter if you plug or unplug your headphones!
This App is developed due to the request of a teacher who needed his computer lab to be quiet, but still, let the students enjoy the sound with their headphones.

Doesn't work as I had hoped
Cpsmith28
I was hoping to use this to mute all the computers in an iMac lab. (This is in a school, and the students like to play music, sounds, even just clicks on the volume control, but the noise is very distracting.) I saw that it was password protected for teachers and thought, "great, let's try it." Unfortunately, every time you log in, it gives you the option to reset the password. What is the point of a password if any user can reset it anytime they want just by logging out and logging in?To make this app useful (for me, anyway) they need to get rid of that step. Just make it so the app launches quietly in the background and stays running until the user logs off. If you can do that, I'll buy 23 more copies. Until then, it was a waste of $5.
Great app. Must have.
