London Eye
London, and what to skip
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
All ninety-six Cockney phrases are now recorded rather than read by the phone. Works underground, where you will want it.
London Eye keeps an eye on London: 144 places and subjects, written by somebody who would rather tell you what to skip.
Every entry is a short piece of writing with a view. Where to stand at the Changing of the Guard and when to give up on it. Which three rooms of the British Museum are worth your afternoon and which galleries are corridor. Why the Abbey's paid route runs one way and what that costs you. Opening times and ticket pages are linked where they matter, so you can book from the paragraph that convinced you.
WHAT IS IN IT
Fifteen sections, nine entries each, plus the hubs: Royal London, the Thames, museums, markets, parks, getting about, food and drink, the villages, history, sport, writers and stage and sound, views, hidden London, and ceremony.
NEAR ME
Everything with a map pin, nearest first. Standing somewhere with twenty minutes spare is the exact problem this solves. Away from London, it will offer you what is worth seeing where you actually are instead.
RHYMING SLANG
Ninety-six phrases, searchable both ways — type "loaf" or type "head" — and every one of them said aloud in Cockney rather than read by the phone's own posh voice. There is a switch for the rude ones. It is off until you move it.
SPIN THE EYE
Fifteen tiles is a lot of choosing. Let the wheel do it.
BEEN THERE
Tick off what you have actually seen. It stays on your phone.
QUIZZES
Five questions on what the app just told you.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS
Added on this device, and staying on it.
HOW IT BEHAVES
It works on the Tube. The writing, the pictures and the recordings are all in the app — no account, no sign-in, no subscription, and nothing to load before you can read.
It does not watch you back. The app asks for your location on one screen, uses the fix to sort a list, and never writes it down. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind, and nothing is sent to us because there is no us to send it to.
London Eye is not affiliated with the London Eye observation wheel or its operators.

Rebuilt from nothing.
144 entries rewritten, every one with its own photograph. A new Near Me that works whether or not you are in London. Ninety-six Cockney phrases recorded properly. Rhyming Slang reads as a glossary now, with the letters down the side. Spin the Eye shows you where you landed.
Everything still works with no signal.
