Not worth the money, but a bit fun/addictive starting out.PROS:- The graphics are pretty sweet if you chipped in for the HD version.- The ships are wicked cool and the ability to customize your ship's weaponry/payload is a plus.- There are tons of side missions outside of the main story- Controls are easy to masterCONS:- The main story is way too short (can be beaten in an hour and a half)- Most of the missions take 10 minutes travelling time for 30 seconds of actual mission- As you level up, the enemy fighters become very easy to take down- The missions pay little, but addons and upgrades cost a fortune (you'll end up putting more money into this, I promise)- Missions are very repetitive- Voice actors aren't very convincing and the plots are cliché- Once you've beaten the main storyline missions, there isn't much else to do but repetitive "farming" missions that are a complete waste of time.I think this game shows a lot of promise and could really be better. I understand that ten bucks isn't a lot of money to some people, but when you're in the App Store, people can easily find a better place to spend that money.MY SUGGESTIONS:- Longer story without suckering the end-user into paying more for expansions- Better side missions with more activity and better payout, based on level or experience of the system/character- Enemies level up with character- Shorter travelling times or some sort of mission interactions along the journey- Co-op or Multiplayer ability for spacial dogfighting/mission partnering- Reduce price of the game to five dollars until improvements are madeThis is just my 2 cents worth. Hope this helps.
Fishlabs abandoned the game. Do NOT buy

This is one of my favorite games. I spent countless hours playing it on my iPad with the Supernova and Valkyrie expansion packs. When I found this release in the App Store for my macbook pro, I was ecstatic. So I ponied up the money and bought it, eager to play on the bigger screen. The game came up just fine, and there was my iCloud save game from iPad. I click “load” only to be met with a notification that I can’t load the game--because of the DLC content--to a non-DLC game. Makes perfect sense, and I was willing to pony up the money for the DLC’s all over again as well. The add-ons button does not work. A message pops up claiming it is attempting to connect and may take up to a minute. An hour later it still hasn’t connected, so I search online. It turns out this problem is widespread (not just widespread—nobody is playing the DLC’s on OS X). And Fishlabs has been ignoring every ticket and support request that is opened for this particular problem — the game is broken and they are simply not doing anything to fix it, and they are ignoring all pleas for help. Take the hint from the ‘Updated’ date here — Nov 27, 2012. It won’t be fixed any time soon.
Awesome!

I don't play many games, but this one is pretty good. The graphics are impressive and the story line is good, though one nice thing is that you're not obligated to follow that story line all the time. I find that I sort of get lost in the game and then realize that I've been at it for way longer than I had originally intended. The icon bounces in my dock for about two minutes before the program opens, possibly because the game is a lot for my computer to handle. At first I thought that it wasn't working but it just takes time to open. My only complaint is that it isn't a very intuitive game. I'd like to think that I'm reasonably intelligent but whenever I encountered something new in the game like a new piece of equipment or a new setting, I had to get out of the program and google how to use it. It'd be nice if there were a few more explanations at the beginning so that I didn't have to do that. Now that I've gotten past the very first parts of the game, it hasn't been a problem.
Immerse and Amazing

This game is truly amazing. I started playing the original (very 1st) Galaxy on Fire on my iPod way way back. Couple of years later after that I got an iPad and purchased GOF2. Now, present day, I'm playing it on my Mac. The storyline and action is truly amazing and well thought. They make the game very realistic. You will not find another space game close to this. Fishlabs has done an outstanding job on Galaxy on Fire Full HD. My configuration is listed below for anyone's consolation.-15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display-2.3 GHz Intel Quad Core i7-8GB RAM (1600 MHz DDR3)-NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M (1GB)-OS X Version 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)The startup is a little slow, but I really have no complaints as the minor wait is acceptable for my configuration. My suggestion for Fishlabs would be to utilize the iPod/iPad/iPhone to control the game considering the fact there are almost no game pad controllers out there that are truly built for a Mac without having to hack/download all kinds of junk to your Mac. I remember EA doing something similar on the iPad where there would be the game and then an app on an iPod/iPhone that could control the game on the other device. Perhaps you could do something similar, because it would surely help, or maybe you could make your own game pads. I would also like to suggest better Retina Dispay support on the MacBook Pro. The graphics are fine, but there's somewhat visible pixelation on the edges of the graphics. All else aside: job well done, well worth the money, and fully compatible with my configuration (no bugs or glitches).
• 3 new ships: Add three spectacular new vessels to your fleet and set the galaxy ablaze with the powerful Dark Angel, the heavily armored NíTirrk and the shadowy Ghost. All three ships are available in-game and you do not have to unlock them via IAP!
