The Sun and Moon Are Still Looking Great!

I love this app. I was looking for a simple app that would tell me the signs the Sun and Moon are in, and this app does it perfectly. The developer just updated the app, which fixed an issue I had with it not showing the correct times that the Sun/Moon entered the next sign. Mr. Vdovenko, thank you for reaching out to notify me of the update.

We appreciate your detailed explanation.Version 1.5, available for macOS 26 or later, uses a rebuilt calculation engine for the Sun and Moon signs. Under Settings → General → Zodiac, choose “Tropical” for the equinox-based zodiac you describe. “Sidereal (Lahiri)” is also available and uses a different reference point, so its signs can differ on the same date.Thank you for your feedback. We hope the updated version earns back your trust.

The application works well and looks nice, however when closing the settings panel it does not actually close; it drops to what looks like 100% transparency but is still visible over other open windows as a clear window. Closing the application and re-opening it corrects this. Also this application does not seem to use the system preferences for formatting dates or times, it defaults to European standard date format and it can not be changed. Please fix this issue….

Thank you for the detailed feedback. In version 1.5 (macOS 26 or later), we’ve replaced the old settings panel with a standard macOS window that closes normally. You can also choose 12- or 24-hour time under Settings → General. Turn off “24-hour time” to display AM/PM.The gadgets still use a fixed day.month.year date format, so the update does not fully address your request to follow macOS regional preferences. Thank you for highlighting both issues.

I live in the US but want to check the rising and setting times of the Moon in Chile, in the settings I wrote the Lat / Long of the city in Chile also the UTC offset for Chile however there is no way I can get the times for Chile I always get it for my home town, obviously setting the country, UTC offset and Lat / Long are useless. I do not recommend this software if you want to check the times in other place than where you live.

Developer Response
We’ve rebuilt them in version 1.5, available for macOS 26 or later.Under Settings → Location, search for and select a city in Chile, or enter its coordinates, then click “Apply Location.” Leave “Set time zone automatically from location” enabled to handle the local time zone and daylight-saving changes without entering a UTC offset manually. The gadgets will calculate Moon rise and set times for your chosen location in Chile, even while you’re in the US. Thank you for explaining the problem.

Preview and customize your gadgets, including their appearance, size, and desktop behavior. • Flexible Location Selection Search for places, choose a location on the map, use your current location, or enter coordinates manually. Decimal degrees and degrees/minutes/seconds are supported. • Automatic Local Time Time zones and UTC offsets are calculated from your selected location, including daylight-saving adjustments. • Improved Moon Phase Display Daily Moon icons reflect each day’s illumination. The menu bar icon follows the calculated Moon phase and adjusts for your location’s hemisphere. • Copy Moon & Sun Details Right-click to copy an individual value, a complete row, or all displayed information—including upcoming Moon phases.
