In this version of the app, we have updated compatibility to support iOS 18.6 and above. The app will mostly look the same, with only a few minor layout updates. The biggest change is that all SOS Remote app settings and related information (like IP addresses and version number) have moved from "iPad Device Settings > SOS Remote" to "SOS Remote app > Settings tab". Before updating the app, please write down your Primary and Backup IP addresses so you can re-enter them in the new Settings location after the update.

Updated the Live Programs user interface (UI) in the Data Catalog tab with the following: - Added thumbnails for all Live Programs - Added a Live Program Info button that pops up a dialog showing the Live Program description and other auxiliary info for the currently selected Live Program - Enabled the search bar for Live Programs, with the option to search using Title, Keywords, Descriptions, or Contact (or a combo of those filters)

Fixed bugs introduced in iOS 17 related to pop-up dialogs.

- The ability to change the speed of Z-Rotation on the fly (i.e., rotation around the North-South pole) using the new Z-Rotation dialog - The ability to change the frame rate on the fly using the new Speed dialog - Display of the volume level and the ability to reset it in the Volume dialog - A red badge notification on the Presenter Notes icon in the Presentation tab when presenter notes are available for a loaded playlist (this is applicable for both presentation playlists and Live Programs)

- In the presentation file selector dialog (accessed through the Presentation tab's Open Folder icon), playlists are now grouped into folders just as they are on the SOS computer so that it is easier to find playlists. - In the iPad's System Settings > SOS Remote section, an additional IP address field has been added for the backup SOS computer so that it is easier to switch between the primary and backup IP addresses when needed.

* A diamond icon is automatically appended to the names of all Site-Custom datasets so that it is easy to quickly identify which datasets are custom datasets. * The ability to turn SOS projectors ON or OFF directly from the app's Settings tab. * Modified the Playlist Builder save functionality to allow saving to an existing presentation playlist without having to rename it.

This version of the app allows the user to turn captions ON or OFF via the Display Elements list. Support for closed captioning/subtitles displayed directly on SOS is a new feature introduced in SOS version 5.4.0.

This version of the app introduces a new pop-up user interface to access a new SOS feature called Spotlight datasets. Spotlight datasets are a handful of SOS datasets periodically selected by the NOAA SOS Team to showcase datasets in the SOS Data Catalog that are: compelling and may be new to you, a current event, a historical event, a new SOS feature, the latest dataset, an updated dataset, etc. This feature supports a succinct way for users to explore the SOS Data Catalog over time and provides quick access to datasets that highlight timely events.

General bug fixes.

- Turn on/off or adjust transparency for each PIP in the currently loaded dataset via the Display Elements (i.e. Layers) list. - Reset vertices on a per-projector basis during Vertex Alignment. - Minor bug fixes.

Fix for iOS 10.0+ bug where the Data Info dialog and the Playlist Builder would not display the selected dataset's description.

A bug fix for when the Layers button of a selected Data Catalog dataset would disappear and the dataset would no longer be highlighted when navigating between tabs or modes.

This version of the app includes a few enhancements and a number of bug fixes. Please see the SOS Remote App 5.1 Release Notes for extended details. Enhancements: • A site can now have their custom overlays appear in the Overlays dialog for quick and easy dynamic layering. • The transfer time of the SOS Data Catalog from the SOS computer to the iPad has been greatly reduced. Bug Fixes: • The Data Info dialog would sometimes display the wrong dataset description, thumbnail and/or dataset playlist path. • The dataset thumbnails in the Playlist list or Data Catalog list were sometimes incorrect or missing, especially for Live Programs. • The Missing Dataset or Missing Playlist error messages would sometimes incorrectly pop up on the iPad after selecting a dataset to load onto the sphere even though the dataset/playlist were present on the SOS computer.

The app now supports a new feature called the Splitter. The Splitter can partition Science On a Sphere® into up to four slices that are replicas of the slice of data that is currently being displayed on the sphere at the center of the user locator. This feature is especially useful for presenting to large groups of people that are located all around the sphere.

PRESENTATION • Layers are now conveniently accessed from the Presentation tab where sphere orientation and playback are controlled. • Load a presentation playlist directly from the Presentation tab. • View presenter notes for a presentation playlist. • Control the volume of a dataset that has audio. DATA CATALOG • Quickly browse and search through the entire SOS Data Catalog for datasets. • Use various filters to refine search results. • Quickly find and load Live Programs that have been created for SOS. PLAYLIST BUILDER • Quickly create or modify a presentation playlist and save it to the SOS computer. • Create or modify presenter notes for a presentation playlist. • View dataset descriptions while creating a presentation. SETTINGS - ALIGNMENT • Run the auto-alignment software (experimental version that requires additional camera hardware connected to the SOS installation).

Added a Search button to the Datasets tab so that presenters can quickly search through all datasets on the SOS computer to find a dataset of interest and load it onto the sphere.

• Added a "Send Link" button to the Web Page tab so that presenters can easily email the SOS Data Catalog URL of the currently playing dataset to an audience member when requested. • When Auto Run is turned on from the Settings tab, an Auto Run message box now pops up that reminds the user they are running an automatic SOS presentation, and prevents the user from accessing any other controls in the app until the box's "Stop" button is selected. • Instead of connecting to SOS manually via an ON/OFF switch, the app now connects to SOS automatically. If it is unable to connect immediately, the app retries every few seconds. Helpful diagnostics regarding connection errors (such as an unrecognized host name, or not connected to Wi-Fi) are provided for quicker troubleshooting.

• Added a Frame Slider to the Present page for quickly scrolling through a dataset. • Added an Overlays dialog to the Presentation tab for quick access to the overlays library when performing interactive layering. • Added badge updates to the Layers tab when performing interactive layering.

• Bug fixes for compatibility with iOS 6. • Added playback controls to the Annotate and Zoom pages. • The Web Page tab now displays the web page from the SOS Data Catalog that corresponds to the dataset that is currently selected in the Playlist.

• Annotation: Draw onto the sphere in real-time to highlight areas of interest during a presentation. Drop icons onto the sphere to provide additional visual cues. • Zoom: Zoom into a region on the sphere to get close up views of data. • Layering: SOS Version 4.0 introduces multiple geographic layers in a single SOS clip. Individual layers can be toggled on and off, and the level of transparency of each layer adjusted. In addition, one or more datasets can be interactively overlaid and blended over another dataset.
