Minor bug fixes

This updated version features streamlined navigation, improved search and reduced file size. Additional content on world art, cities and more is now included, and a new “surprise” option allows children to jump to a random place on the globe simply by shaking their device.

Thanks for updating! We got so excited about the school start we decided to make the packs free for a week (offer ends Monday 5 September)! Get the packs and discover more wonders of the atlas! The Barefoot team has also been on a bug hunt, squashing some of those small beasties and making your experience even better.

Here's what we did: – If you're on iPad, the settings menu will stay where it's supposed to, as will the quiz options. – We found and fixed a weird bug that caused occasional crashes for people who were looking at country panels on the hour. – We added some new blurring effects so that everything continues to look gorgeous when you view a list. Thanks for updating! Some of you told us there was an issue with the app on iPad Air 2, so we tightened a few screws and got out the polish, and now it’s as good as new! We’ve even gone and added a new game to the International Soccer pack (yeah, we miss Brazil 2014 a bit too). But that’s not all! We’ve managed to dust off some long-lost features and bring them out of retirement. Back by popular demand are Search and Favourites. Track down those sneaky features with the search, and mark your favourites with a star. As always our bug-catcher in chief has been at work with his net, travelling the globe capturing any nasty little bugs and getting them out of the way so you can have a better, more enjoyable experience. After listening to your excellent suggestions, we waved our wands to improve the app even more. It’s now quicker and easier to download the extra packs and expand your world! That’s pretty cool, but our favourite new feature in this update has got to be the ability to hide country names in puzzles—you can switch them off for an extra challenge. We also found some sneaky bugs clinging onto the globe, so we brushed them away, gave the planet a bit of a polish, and now it’s squeaky clean. Lovely. Hold on to your hats, guys! We’re about to go around the world in 80 seconds… Since you last heard from us we’ve been working out ways to make your 3D world even better, and we’ve come up with something we think you’re rather going to like: it was a careful balancing act, but we somehow managed to fit even more icons on that there globe! The Starter Pack now has fully-functioning sample icons from all the different packs for you to explore. We’re also a little fanatical about football here, so we wanted to do something to celebrate the beautiful game during the World Cup. The solution was simple: we’ve called time out and thrown in a fantastic football kit matching puzzle AND made the International Football Pack completely and utterly FREE for the entirety of the World Cup! Free as a bird. That’s taking a free kick. We also found some pesky bugs interfering with a few things, so we carefully collected them up and they’re now playing their own miniature football tournament in our office. Believe it or not, the bugs from Brazil are the best. And that’s it. Ta da! We really hope you enjoy the new version of Barefoot World Atlas. What’s new, you ask? Only two more incredible expansion packs to add to your global collection! Hooray! After many moons of complicated scientific experiments to find the perfect packs, we are very proud to announce the arrival of… (drum roll please) INTERNATIONAL SOCCER and WORLD ART! The mighty International Football pack is fever-pitch full of facts, photos, rankings, stats and other fantastic football fun. You name it, we’ve somehow managed to fit it into this pack. You’ll find hand drawn home and away kits, upcoming fixtures and the latest results for every international team! Not to mention their national anthems! And now for something completely different: for the World Art pack, we’ve sent our scouts through time and space across the world, gathering sculptures, textiles, jewellery, paintings, ceramics and photographs. With this pack, you can see how different cultures have created and viewed art, from prehistory to the present day. You can also test your skills with a sliding-tile art puzzle for every entry. And if you look carefully, you’ll notice we have even MORE expansion packs in the pipeline. So watch this space… Finally, we’ve squashed a few pesky bugs that we found scurrying around the globe.
