A God-centered, worship-based prayer app that stores and organizes Scripture passages and prayer requests by category and displays them in rotation according to the priority you assign to each one.
Prayer is difficult in so many ways! It can be hard to find the time, hard to know what to pray about, hard to keep focused, hard to keep from using the same words over and over and hard to keep it from becoming a "To Do" list for God. Prayer Prompter was designed to help you to be faithful in prayer while keeping the focus on God and His Word, rather than yourself.
Prayer Prompter is like a two drawer file cabinet.
• The top drawer is named "Meditation and Prayer." It stores and organizes Scripture passages by topic and displays as many of them as you want in rotation and according to the priority you assign to each one.
Prayer Prompter encourages Scripture-based prayer by providing an easy way to read and reflect on key passages of Scripture and return to them on a regular basis. Reading and thinking about (i.e. meditating upon) passages of Scripture increases knowledge, understanding and wisdom and may inspire a prayer from the heart to God. It might be as simple as an "Amen." (The model prayer that Jesus gave his disciples saying "Pray this way", is remarkably short!)
The first few folders in the top drawer are organized according to the popular “ACTS” method of prayer. The letters stand for Adoration meaning worship and praise, Confession which should include contrition for sin, Thanksgiving, the expression of gratitude to God, and Supplication, making known your requests. These four topics offer a balanced approach to communicating with God in prayer.
• The bottom drawer is named "Petition/Intercession." It stores and organizes prayer requests and answers to prayer by category, and displays as many of them as you want in rotation and according to the priority you assign to each one.
Some sources of inspiration that influenced the design of Prayer Prompter:
I will meditate on Your precepts,
And contemplate Your ways.
I will delight myself in Your statutes;
I will not forget Your word. (Psalm 119:15-16)
Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us,
But to Your name give glory,
Because of Your mercy,
Because of Your truth.
(Psalm 115:1)
"Praise and worship is the expression of admiration and devotion to God. Only praise puts God in His rightful position at the outset of our praying. In praising God, we declare His sovereignty and recognize His nature and power." Dick Eastman
"Godly prayer is fundamentally an act of worship. It is an expression of our praise, our unworthiness, our desire to see God's will fulfilled, and our utter dependence on Him for all our needs." John MacArthur
"Worship-based prayer seeks the face of God before the hand of God. God's face is the essence of who He is. God's hand is the blessing of what he does. God's face represents His person and presence. God's hand expresses His provision for needs in our lives. I have learned that if all we ever do is seek God's hand, we may miss His face: but if we seek His face, He will be glad to open His hand and satisfy the deepest desires of our hearts." Daniel Henderson
Prayer Prompter includes more than 600 Scripture passages from the New American Standard Bible (NASB) used by permission of The Lockman Foundation.
"Originally produced in 1971 and updated in 1995, the NASB is widely embraced and trusted as a literal English translation. The NASB provides superior accuracy with clarity and readability to inspire greater understanding. It has been produced with the conviction that the words of Scripture, as originally penned in the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, were inspired by God." The Lockman Foundation
Note: If you prefer a different version of the Bible, the NASB passages can be replaced by copying and pasting. http://prayerprompter.com/replacing-bible-passages.
1. When I tell people I will pray for them, this app helps me to remember if I add them to my prayer list folder!!!2. Using this prayer app helps me to stay focused on PRAYING through my priorities, especially during the busyness and “to do” lists that beckon to me as soon as I open my eyes each morning!!!3. I never have to scribble out or start a new page so it will be neater… I never lose my prayer journal or misplace it... because NOW it’s on my phone!!❤️4. There are passages of scripture that I can read based on topic! This is fantastic for days when I feel like I need a nugget of the word from a specific concept.5. A big plus is that there is a section to journal! So I can open up that journal and actually use text to type and speak and record my journal entries much faster than if I were hand writing them. They back up to my dropbox so I always have them and then when I’m ready I can print them and bind them if I want a paper copy. (there are specific things that I feel a need to handwrite in order to process deeper... but many other things I want to just record what’s on my heart before I forget)6. I love how simplified it is to use with file folders. My only suggestion would be for the app designer to maybe find a graphic designer ( you could use Fiver... or find someone who is a Christian and graphic designer that would help you with this for free!) to give a little more updated graphics to make it more visually appealing. Other than that- I love the functionalities of Prayer Prompter!!! BLESSINGS on the heart and vision of those making this available! Incredible tool!
It would get 5 stars from me, but…

I have loved this app for the several years I’ve been using it. I would have given it 5-stars if not for one thing that is a major issue to me. I use the app on both my iPhone and my iPad, but the only way to sync them is to do backups to Drop Box. While not crazy about having to use an additional app to backup, I was ok with that—that is, until a few months ago when it stopped backing up easily to my phone which is what I usually use it on. To get it to work, I have to log out of Drop Box on Prayer Prompter, then log back in to Drop Box, then since I go out of Prayer Prompter to do that and have it passworded, I have to renter the password & then back it up. I have to do this every. single. time. I am getting very tired of it. Both my phone and my ipad were purchased this year within a couple of months, but this problem only happens on my phone, the one I use almost all of the time for prayers. I tried writing to the developer about it back in July and they just gave an excuse that they didn't currently have a programmer to fix it & need to replace them and I quote “until then, you will have to continue to use the method that you have discovered. I complement you on being able to figure that out” in a very condescending tone. Well, no. After giving them an additional four plus months to make it right, I DON’T have to continue—I can start shopping around for a better method of tracking prayers. And that is what I intend to do. I might have enjoyed using this for several years, but apparently I’ve outgrown it. It is not worth having to experience tedious frustration twice a day.
Excellent way to organize prayer needs!

I’ve been using this app for at least 7 years, maybe 10. It is a great way to organize all of the categories of prayers that a person might want to cover. I love that it starts with the ACTS prayers, and pairs scripture with them. You can customize additional catories in any way that you like. I have categories for myself, family, bible study members’ requests, home group members requests, our country, etc. You can set up the timing interval for seeing each request to be anything from every day to a much lower frequency. Prayers which have been answered can be moved to an “Answered Prayers” or “Praise” category. The flexibility of this app is excellent, while also providing a foundational structure to begin with.
GETTING DOWN TO BRASS TACKS

I have tried many different prayer apps and found all of them wanting except this one! It doesn’t have pretty colors, or multiple text styles, or music, or lovely background pictures that some do. It doesn’t come with ‘built in’ devotions, or daily ‘encouraging’ words. It is easily amendable, easily navigated, and loaded with great reminders from GOD’S WORD, which is where genuine prayer resides! The User can decide on how to pursue devoted prayer and is given options for adding, changing and modifying text, prayers and bible versions. For me, it’s a FIVE STAR app, with one small exception…at times, it is not clear how to make certain changes happen and take effect, but once learned it is everything a devotee of prayer could want. It truly puts the User “in the driver’s seat” and eliminates the temptation to let the app dictate your prayer time.
* Prayer Prompter will now automatically detect hyperlinks within an entry and open them without leaving the app.
* Added a shortcut where ‘double tapping’ a folder on the home screen will directly open its entry list.
* Added ‘infinite scrolling’ for folder tiles on the home screen (allowing you to easily access folders at the bottom of the list).
* Improved the email and text message templates for sharing entries
* Improved the Last Read/Prayed button to highlight the background until tapped, reminding you to press it on each entry.
* Updated the API connection with DropBox to improve reliability and speed of backups
* Fixed a number of bugs including crash sequences related to swiping between entries and sharing from the All Entry list.
