I was using another screen recorder as a desktop app, but when it failed with OS X El Cap, I searched the Mac App Store and found this. It is the lowest costing screen recorder that actually works - with no catch, no free version, no nothing! It’s just what I needed. I LOVE IT!
Absolutely terrible.

I will never know if this app was really any good, since it froze up upon opening. And because of the way this thing is configured, I can't force quit. I have to do a hard restart. Don't waste your time getting this app.
Problem with Retina Display (for "Record Selection")
mahapr
With "Record Selection", defining the area of the screen to record is done by placing and sizing a rectangle on the screen. Unfortunately, the screen content shown during that selection operation seems to be twice the normal size (i.e., it looks like a zoomed in version of a quarter of the screen). The recording itself is fine, except that it seems to be recorded at twice the resolution (and, because of the selection issue, it's pretty much impossible to select the correct area to record). Full screen recording seems fine.
