PhotoSweeper Lite is a lightweight version of PhotoSweeper designed to help you quickly and easily get rid of duplicate photos. It works seamlessly with libraries from Apple Photos, Adobe Lightroom Classic, Capture One, and also supports photos stored on your hard drive or external storage devices. It finds and groups photos with identical or nearly identical content, regardless of their filenames.
DUPLICATE photos – exact copies, often created when backing up files, using multiple photo libraries, or syncing across devices. If you have several Macs, external drives, or just multiple copies of the same collection, PhotoSweeper Lite is perfect for cleaning them up.
SIMILAR photos – photos that look the same to the human eye but differ technically. These are usually created by taking multiple shots of the same scene or editing with apps like Adobe Photoshop, Pixelmator, etc. PhotoSweeper Lite does NOT detect these, but the FULL version of PhotoSweeper does!
With PhotoSweeper Lite you get:
• Support for Photos, Lightroom Classic and Capture One libraries.
• Beautifully designed and easy-to-use interface: great photo browsing, reviewing results in different modes, automatically marking photos etc.
• Extremely fast workflow: based on state-of-the-art technologies and optimized for photo comparison.
This is the LITE version. The FULL version is named "PhotoSweeper" and it:
• Finds SIMILAR photos with extra comparison settings. Photos are compared regardless of their sizes or formats and are grouped by similarity. It allows you to find even edited photos and series of shots.
• Moves or copies photos you want to keep, with or without bulk renaming.

Couldn't find more than 102 duplicates

In a library of 30,000 photos with thousands of obvious duplicates. Update. I upgraded to the full version which took care of business lickety split. I emailed a question to tech support and received the same day an extremely detailed answer, explanation, and instructions. The Overmacs team member, Jon, asked me to keep him posted - which I did as I needed a little help with fine tuning the system - and he replied to every email within minutes. Without Jon's prompt and detailed replies this weekend project would have taken weeks. I'm very satisfied with the product and thoroughly impressed with the support given to their customers.

PhotoSweeper Lite to the Rescue… and rescue it did!

iPhoto… I loved ye…. but…. when Photos came out… Apple did a dirty trick… instead of migrating your iPhoto Library… Apple decided to do some hybrid nonsense… and make your computer use Photos for new pics…. and doing some kind of appending onto the previous iPhoto library. Not good, not good. Very inefficient use of disk space…. and it causes problems when you have to restore your system.Add to it…the way that Apple is always changing how crap synchs up between items in the Apple EcoSystem… and Voila… you have a hot mess….See, I have an iMac, an X-serve, a Mac-Mini, a Macbook Air, and a MacBook Pro. Add to it… an iPod Touch, and iPhone, and iPad, and an Apple Watch… and you can pretty much determine… that I don’t have any idea whatsoever…. I have in my multiple libararies. LOL.I am on my iMac right now… and it had different a different iPhoto library than my others…it is the main photo editing machine. I tried this program here first.I added all my files… tweaked the settings…. and read the manual (on-line). I removed 1447 photos saving 1.89 GB of disk space. I am not purging dupes for the disk space, just to make sure that I am not carrying on tons of extra files.I was surprised at the 1447 files… OMG…how did that happen? Well, what I did like… was when it went to purge dupes… it marked the ones to keep and the ones to purge. It did a great job. I had used Perfectly Clear (iPhone) to enhance some pics… and the program picked the best ones…and decided to purge the crappy ones. Also, if there was one that was bigger… i.e. had more detail… it kept that one … as long as the pic quality was the same.I find this a great program… great cost… I did not need to find the similar ones… just rid me of dupes.I give this 5 stars…. but just a word of caution… please review all the dupes that it shows…. to make sure that you are purging the correct files. It ended up dumping them in photos in a folder to delete… I just might back them up on a network drive… just in case I mucked something up. Kudos to the programmers!
Works!

Takes a minute (literally about two minutes) to figure out and then presents you with pairs (or more) of duplicates, which you can evaluate pretty quickly by just pressing the down arrow to go from one to the next. Click on any near-duplicates that you want to save, then click Trash Marked at the bottom, and those supremely irritating duplicates are gone!

This worked where free version didn't

I tried Duplicate File Finder (by this same devloper, I think) and while it identified duplicates well, it would always hang for me when I asked it to actually delete the duplicates. This similar program seems more feature-complete, and was able to actually delete the many thousands of dups I was trying to sift through. Yay!
