If you are heavily in the Apple ecosystem you likley have an old iphone, mac, ipod, etc. lying around getting limited use. This app can turn all of those devices into baby monitors/ cameras for your home. If you have one of the newer apple tv devices then you can use it as the main monitor or device to watch everything that is being broadcast by tthe phones. Yep…you can watch your child on your flatscreen tv. I’ve tested it using an Iphone 3gs, a 5, a 6s and some old macs and it worked like a champ (BTW this process alowed me to really appreciate the leaps and bounds made in the quality of the cameras of ios devices). The mic is supersensitive and you can hear your child breathing (volume can be adjusted). The nightlight feature is really useful in that you can check on your child without having to wake him or her up or leave a light on within the room. I haven’t tried to use it outside of the home or with bluetooth so I can’t speak to the cellular side of things but overall this is an amazing app and the developers should be proud of his or her work. For the price you can’t go wrong.
Somehow Better than Nest

I had an old iphone so I decided to save some money and repurpose it as a baby monitor using the Cloud Baby Monitor app. It seemed like a bit of a hack but this works pretty well. I was then gifted a Nest Cam so I switch to that. I’d always read great things about Nest Products. OMG was it a pain to set up. I’ll save you some agony by explaining that you cannot set that up on an iPhone or iPad but need to do that on a computer… but not a Mac operating on any remotely recent operating systems, only operating systems older than Catalina. Google expects and asks that you roll back your operating system to set the camera up. What a joke. Fortunately my wife doesn’t update her software so I was able to set the camera up on hers. And to my surpirise, the Nest Cam camera is WORSE than my iPhone 4’s camera? It’s “night vision” is less sensitive than the iPhone 4 and simply switches to black and white to simulate UV light sensitivity? Eeek. The Nest does have a nice wide angle so you can put it close to the baby but that’s all it has going for it. I can’t even monitor the Nest from my computer, there is no Mac Nest App, only mobile. If you enjoy painful PC installations, driver incompatibilities and headaches in general, get the Nest. Otherwise Cloud Baby Monitor is pretty good. I didn’t give it 5 stars because I’ve had issues having to re-pair the viewing unit to the camera, even after having paired them previously. Also, it bugs you to enroill in some kind of remote viewing, even if you don’t want it. You may sign up just to get it to stop.

The value here is extraordinary - well worth the price of the individual apps. The macOS and iOS versions work in concert with each other beautifully. Saved our family the waste, hassle, and expense of another set of devices, with their own dedicated set of chargers, the risk of forgetting a piece of special kit and not being able to listen in, etc. The app is worth every penny, and makes all of our Apple products an even better value.P.S. Unlimited range is the bomb. I can listen to my daughter’s singing herself to sleep from my office miles away, or say hello to her when she wakes up from the train. It’s pretty magical.

We had a spare iPhone hanging around the house, and our normal baby monitor started being flaky and finally the charger stopped working. We needed something quick. I started looking around and found this. The $$ was well spent, and much cheaper then buying a new baby monitor.It works flawlessly from inside my home, and when I am away. The baby lullabyes put him to sleep and you can talk to baby through it. All you could ask for!
