Agave Matchmaker (the app formerly known as "Tequila Matchmaker") is the only rating system smart enough to detect your personal preferences and match you with tequilas and other agave spirits that are right for you. Each has its own "flavor fingerprint," and each person has his or her own flavor preferences. Our proprietary matching algorithm uses nine different characteristics to find the best matches for you. Oh, and it gets smarter as you use it.
Agave Matchmaker is a product of TasteTequila.com, an independent tequila blog and community run by Grover and Scarlet Sanschagrin.
Here's what to expect:
- Be surprised by your individual taste profile: Based on your ratings, the app shows you which aromas and flavors you are responding to. It will even tell you which production methods, and regions of Mexico, you like the most (and least!)
- Matching you with the right tequilas: The app will use your rating and "likes" to match you with the best agave spirits for your palate.
- Seriously detailed product information: Products listed in the app show community ratings, aroma and flavor descriptors, and production details. You can't get any geekier than this!
- Keep up with what's happening in the agave spirits community in real time: Follow other tequila and agave spirits lovers, keep on top of trending products, and get the latest industry news in the Activity tab of the app.
- Find out where your favorite tequila is made: Our distillery database is the most complete searchable index available online. It is updated regularly because we tap into data available from tequila regulators, the TTB, and brands themselves. It contains historical data so you can still find information on older tequilas and brands. Search by NOM number, or simply type in a brand name, and the app will show you where it was made, and what other tequilas are made in that same distillery.
- It’s not just for tequila geeks: Even if you don't know anything about tequila or agave spirits, the app will teach you in an easy and engaging way by using your own taste profile.
Decent enough reviews, that aspect is well designed. The other functions just don’t work half the time. Under “near me” sometimes half the places listed don’t even exist anymore, clearly the lists were never updated post-pandemic. But they really could use adding a function letting users flag listings for errors - there’s no way to do that. Let us do the work for you, TM. Sometimes hitting “find near me” from a specific tequila’s losing just goes to a blank page, like a door leading nowhere. The app feels only half-built. But it’s free so 🤷🏽♂️.

The Developers of this app have done an incredible job of sifting through the world of Tequila, creating a systematic approach to rating the thousands of varieties that are delivered for public consumption and, what’s most important, they’ve created a system whereby each member of the apps community has the ability to rate and score any particular product and then share that with the rest of the community.“Priceless” is how I’d rate the app, for my appreciation for the splendor of the Agave plant has soared to levels well beyond my expectations, and this after being a 20 plus year Tequila consumer. Hats off to the brave two who have “given us” this unique gift.
Great app, but slow and needs search by category

This app is great. I love the blind rating feature. I love the search by NOM or name feature. It’s great. The app is very slow loading at times and can benefit from a performance boost. I also wish it had the same search functionality as on the website where you can search by category (ie: blanco, reposado, etc).

The app is amazing, at least the concept, rating system, the vast number of tequilas on here and still getting added everyday. The whole app just needs a new rework, it just feels clunky and takes a while to load up details and reviews when you click a tequila. I’m sure it will get better eventually but right now I’m still happy with it. Great job!
Our name has changed so that we can support more than just tequila. In the coming months we will be adding mezcal, raicilla, bacanora, and other agave spirits from around the world.
