The E-Version is what every online newspaper should be like

I have stayed away from News Apps because they are only selling ads that you MUST watch interspersed with the news content I was looking for. The Advocate’s E-Version gives me the newspaper in the same format at the printed edition delivered to my home, and I pinch-and-zoom or select the articles I want to read. It’s like a paper edition, only it’s an image (like a pdf). It’s great. The ads are on the pages, just like the printed copy, but the ads don’t fill the page and require you to hunt for the X to close the ad. I have a paid subscription to the printed edition, and I don’t recall whether it requires my subscription Login info to allow me to access the e-edition.

Northeast LA
I live in Northeast Louisiana and reading the Baton Rouge Advocate by App is an absolute joy for me. Baton Rouge is the capital city of Louisiana and the current news that this App provides is so beneficial because I love to read current, up to date information regarding the state of Louisiana. The App is very easy to navigate and find information regarding different topics and the daily print version is just as beneficial as the digital content App. This App is just overall a great format to read and I thoroughly enjoying using it each day..

Northeast LA

I live in Northeast Louisiana and reading the Baton Rouge Advocate by App is an absolute joy for me. Baton Rouge is the capital city of Louisiana and the current news that this App provides is so beneficial because I love to read current, up to date information regarding the state of Louisiana. The new update and formatting for the app that was issued the first week of February 2025 was a major step back for The Advocate. The user interface changed and is not nearly as user friendly as the old interface. There is a plethora of new ads that pop up in the middle of articles. Most importantly it seems to only give you five article reads before it tries to make you subscribe and pay for the app. The old app and interface did have pay to read articles, however, these were not for every article and you were still allowed to read most of the content on the app. This is outrageous for someone like myself who uses this app in conjunction with other local news applications to get more insight into the happenings in my area. I don’t expect to continue using the app unless, at the bare minimum, the subscription requirement is changed.

This version has disabled some capabilities of the previous version. I am a print edition subscriber. One of the reasons I subscribe is the daily puzzles in the print edition. These are far different than the puzzles in the gaming section of the App. In the previous version of the App, I was able to isolate the individual games and print them to work should the paper come late or there was inclement weather or the print edition failed to appear. This ability has disappeared in this latest version. Interesting that I can isolate individual stories but not the games and puzzles. For me this new and improved version is a step backward.
