UfYH: Terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes.
Please be advised that this app contains profanity. The word "filth," in-app, is replaced by the other f-word. There is a lot of swearing. Really so very much swearing. Please do not buy this app and then be shocked by the swearing, because there is a lot of it, and here we are, telling you about it right up front.
If traditional housekeeping isn’t really your style, but your living space needs a little attention, UfYH’s challenges and customizable features will help you get your place back in shape, a few minutes at a time. Rather than encourage marathon cleaning sessions, UfYH gives you the tools to clean up, a little at a time. Unf&%*ing your habitat turns dreaded chores into easy-to-complete tasks, with a hefty dose of “filthy” language to motivate you to clean up.
-Clean and simple easy-to-use interface.
-Select timed challenges in 5, 10, or 20 minute intervals and try to beat the clock to finish the challenge.
-Select challenges by room.
-Create a customized to-do list and reminders to keep you on schedule.
-Earn achievements for completing challenges or finishing your to-do list.
-Use the 20/10 timer to reward yourself with a 10-minute break for every 20 minutes of work. Shorter challenges count cumulatively toward your total time.
-Random motivators remind you that excuses are boring and use a combination of a little guilt, a little shame, and a little swearing to get you moving.
UfYH is especially useful for those who don’t have a lot of spare time to devote to cleaning: students, people with full-time jobs, people with roommates, anyone who can’t find the motivation to get up and just do something. Even if it’s just a little something! Our lives are complicated and messy, and we’re often overwhelmed and distracted, and sometimes a little lazy. Unf&%* things and see a remarkable difference in how you tackle cleaning.
UfYH uses frequent profanity and is for mature audiences. In-app, the word "filth" is replaced by its older, more foul-mouthed cousin. This app uses the "f-word." A lot. Please be aware of this before purchasing.
I’ve had this app for years & still use it randomly today!

Initially I fell in love with this app because I’m a terrible self-motivator when it comes to chores & all other adulting things of that same nature- so the ability to create productivity lists, and really the ability to have the app actually select a cleaning/productive task for me at somewhat-random was right on my level. Then I saw the Motivation Scale... and was DONE. So I set the app to tell me the bs housework I should go ahead and do now- and then just as I’m about to blow it off you can have the app offer you a few words of encouragement to kinda ease you into it- which is amazing. 😂 You set the motivation scale for what type of encouragement you’re in the mood to hear- from ‘Warm Hug’, which offers quotes like “You are capable of anything you put your kind to” to my personal favorite,’Tough Love’ which offers motivational quips like “Do you want them to make a reality show about YOUR HOUSE?!” 😂 which works for me cause it’s is soooo true. So yes I know the app hasn’t been updated too recently, and the UI isn’t great- but if you can get past that then the app functionality, with chore/task drawn at random, or by room is amazing. ORR if you prefer focused work & break time intervals- the app offers a Pomodoro timer function where you can take a BEFORE picture, select one of the two time management intervals (20/10 or 45/15) for which the clock will start counting down, and then upon the buzzer it will ask you for your after picture- even if you aren’t finish, just to show you that every little bit does make a difference! A few months back I was checking the app push dates & wondering if this app had been abandoned or acquired or what.. ended up on reddit where I did see more recent activity on and about it there- however I don’t recall coming across any iOS app info re: developers/push or overall status of the app as of a few months back when I was looking- so.... who even knows what it is as of now! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Don’t listen to a grumpypants called ‘Pro App Review’.

UfYH repeatedly specifically mentions that it includes profanity, and lots of it. It never tries to hide that fact, and only censored the name of the app so that it could be available on the App Store in the first place. That being said, this blog and its app have changed my life. Having a preset 20/10 timer that starts breaks automatically is so much easier than trying to set alternating times on my regular phone timer. I love the random challenges, because it helps me think of things that need cleaning that would’ve otherwise never come to mind. The motivation is fun and actually makes me laugh, which is super helpful when I lack the motivation to clean due to depression.Apps don’t have to be super pretty or entertaining to be functional and efficient. Function and efficiency are exactly what this app is going for - after all, why would an app for helping you clean and organize your house need to appeal to little kids or even be seen by them? And the fact that this app and blog are coordinated by pretty much just one person - who apparently does this all just to help out others (so in my mind, a repayment of 99 cents once is totally worth it) amazes me. Seriously, my home would look like a set of Hoarders if it wasn’t for UfYH. They’re miraculous.
Great app

This is a great app that can be used alone but I find works better when used in conjunction with following the UFYL website, Facebook, or tumblr feed. I get inspiration from the posts and then use this app to clean my own house. It's very straight forward and doesn't glitch. It follows the method of working for a few minutes then taking a break so you don't burn out. It also lists all those common tasks we'd like to "forget" existed and reminds us that "hey that toilet ain't going to scrub itself! To the one star review- it's an app to act as a timer/motivator for housecleaning. Who honestly cares about if the layout has pretty colors!?! Also the description of this app is VERY clear about the language used and honestly it's not that bad. I've overheard worse leaving church service. It's not an app for children anyway!
Invaluable tool for daily life

I use this app on a daily basis, and have never once regretted the purchase. In case you somehow missed the multiple warnings on the description that "unfilth" is NOT the word this app uses, there's also a pop up confirmation at purchase that points this out. If you're shocked and horrified by the obscene language, you've no one to blame but yourself. If you're not so precious as to be reduced to wibbles by a few F-bombs, this app is an invaluable resource to the UfYH way of life. Offering a bevy of challenges sorted by room and time involved along with built-in timers, to-do lists and that last little push of motivation some of us require, this app will bring you the peace of mind that comes with an orderly house and help you regain control over your life.
