Photo Journals: On This Day

Your camera roll, by date

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Photo Journals is a calendar for the photos already on your phone. Most photo apps want to be a social network. This one doesn't. It pulls together photos from your albums and lays them out by date, so you can scroll a month at a time and see what you've actually been doing with your life. ON THIS DAY See what you took on this date in past years — the holiday you'd half forgotten, the Tuesday afternoon that turned out to matter. Browse by year, jump to a season, or scroll a month at a glance. MADE OF MEMORIES Turn a person, a month, or a whole year into a photomosaic: one hero image rebuilt out of hundreds of your own photos of that same subject. Choose which photo it becomes, exclude the ones you don't want, and switch between whole photos and faces-only for a portrait made of faces. Then turn the finished mosaic into a reveal video — a slow pull-back that opens inside a single tile and zooms out until the whole picture resolves. Save it to Photos or share it. All of it renders on your device. Nothing is uploaded, at any point. FIND THE PHOTO YOU'RE THINKING OF Search by place, using on-device reverse geocoding you opt into. Or search the words inside your photos — a receipt, a street sign, a note in your own handwriting — indexed on device. WHAT'S FREE, AND WHAT'S PRO The calendar, browsing by year, On This Day, and sharing are free, and stay free. Photo Journals Pro is a one-time purchase — not a subscription — and unlocks Made of Memories mosaics at full resolution without a watermark, reveal videos, search by place, and Live Text search. Free users can preview a mosaic at low resolution before deciding. PRIVACY Photos stay where they are. Photo Journals never copies, uploads, or modifies your library. No accounts. No tracking. No advertising. The privacy nutrition label is "Data Not Collected" — Photo Journals does not see, store, or transmit your photos. Made by Indy.inc in the United Kingdom.

Ratings & Reviews

  • This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.

Made of Memories. Turn a person, a month, or a whole year into a photomosaic — one hero image rebuilt out of hundreds of your own photos of that same subject. Choose which photo it becomes, drop the ones you don't want, and switch between whole photos and faces-only for a portrait made of faces. Then turn it into a reveal video: a slow pull-back that opens inside one tile and zooms out until the whole picture resolves. Save it, or share it. Also new: • Search by place — find photos by where you took them, with on-device geocoding you opt into. • Live Text search — find a photo by a word inside it. Receipts, street signs, your own handwriting. • Richer day captions on iOS 27. On Apple Intelligence devices the summary now looks at the photos themselves rather than reading scene labels, so it describes the day you actually had. • Better day-representative and gallery picks, for the same reason. Every bit of it runs on your device. Mosaics, videos, search, captions — nothing is uploaded, at any point. Made of Memories, reveal videos, place search and Live Text search are part of Photo Journals Pro, a one-time purchase. The calendar, On This Day and browsing stay free. If Photo Journals has turned up a photo you'd forgotten, a rating helps more than you'd think — it's how other people find a small app with no advertising behind it. Thank you.
