Play a game where your choices really matter and where you affect the fate of individuals, communities, and entire kingdoms. Fight blood-thirsty monsters and navigate a web of schemes, lies, and political intrigue in one of the best looking games ever to come to Mac.
You are Geralt of Rivia, a witcher, a member of a mysterious caste of professional beast-slayers created through brutal training and mutation. Witchers specialize in tracking down and killing monsters. Long gone are the days when beasts lived near human settlements in every forest and cave, and the folk of the Northern Kingdoms held witchers in high regard. The age of elf and dwarf massacres has come, a time when men rival monsters in the evil they do, a time when mutated witchers are regarded as dangerous outcasts, neither human nor nonhuman. Amidst this chaos, Geralt is drawn into a bloody conspiracy. Accused of killing a king, the witcher embarks on a solitary quest to clear his name and uncover the mysteries of his past.

Review is for Apple, not Witcher
XianFuzzypants
Thanks to Apple dropping support for 32 bit applications, I purchased this and it was unplayable within less than a year due to the Catalina upgrade, which I needed to do for other reasons.Perhaps the App Store ought to offer refunds for products that no longer work due to Apple's decisions? Nah.....that's not how you get all the monies!
Has Potential

Running this on the most current, top of the line MacBook Pro 15” so you’d think it wouldn’t be an issue, but that’s not the case. I have to turn the settings to Low Spec and run at 1440x900 and even then the frame rates can be so poor it makes some of the fight sequences next to impossible. I’ve had to switch the game to Easy mode to simply get through some of the battles because the frame rates are so bad you have no chance of reacting appropriately or in time to get through it. If this weren’t the case this game would get a five stars hands down, for the story is very immersive, the main and side quests fun and engaging, and overall a solid action RPG. Personally I find it very annoying there is no “jump” action like most games have, space bar jump…I find myself trying to jump over small roots and annoyingly have to walk all the way around them when a simple “jump” ability would be much smoother. But then again, if I were able to smoothly jump over roots on the path there’s no way the frame rates would keep up with moving so elegantly so perhaps that’s for the better.
Apple silicon update!!!!!
DirtyJ375
TL;DR: Witcher 2 has been updated for Apple silicon and it runs really well. Just has some glitches on the heads of NPCs. Thank you CDPR!!! I bought this game years ago and had wanted to pick it back up, but alas it wouldn't run using Rosetta, nor would it run on an older Mac that met the requirements. Despite reaching out to support, I was bummed as it got nowhere. However, I was caught by complete surprise when I saw that Witcher 1 & 2 were updated for Apple silicon and immediately re-installed on my M1 Max MBP. I've played for a few hours at this point and can say that it actually runs better than it did on the top of the line Intel MBP that I had when this game was initially released on the App Store. The only reason it has four stars and not five - the head glitches. Several NPC characters that talk or are in cut scenes have this weird glitch where you can see the mesh triangles, and they all appear to be "z-fighting" which is when two meshes occupy the same space and they "fight" each other for prominence, so it looks all glitchy.
Good game, but a little hard to get through
Mysteryguitarguy
The game is a weird one. The RPG is beautiful, with some of the best graphics to date, but the technical issues, like framerate (even on recent hardware, its nearly impossible to run on higher settings), and convoluted story kind of bog the experience down. It’s best to play the first one, or read the novellas before trying to embark on this game’s quest because the story is so deep, to get the full impact, some background knowledge is needed. If you’re not at all going to pay attention to that, then the game is good, but not great.
Minor fix for face rendering
