Color Picker is a utility app built for Cocoa developers and designers who care about a fast, frictionless workflow. Pick any color from anywhere on your screen using the built-in magnifier, just hover over the pixel you want and click. Color Picker instantly displays a preview along with its Hex and UIColor values, ready to copy into your code. Never lose track of a color again. The built-in library lets you save and organize colors for future projects, so your palette is always one click away. Developers get extra controls built for real source code: toggle zero suppression to strip redundant decimals from float values, and automatically append a semicolon so the output drops straight into your editor.

Recent update ruined the app for me

Until the latest release this app was perfect. I'm still giving 5 stars cuz it sounds like Apple screwed you. I used to be able to do one keyboard shortcut, click my pixel and have my color. Now, it is a multi-step process, due to this change "NOTE: We had to remove the custom magnifier and fallback to Apple's default color picker as they wouldn't let us update the application with a custom magnifier that reads the pixel from the screen." It was fun while it lasted. Going to look for another app.

I stopped for a sec to write this review, but I remember trying a couple completely worthless apps to pick / save colors. Color Picker is quick and easy to learn. I have to admit I fell in love with the simplicity of this app before I realized it’s ability to actually save swatches. I’m a web designer and it’s been awesome to save a client color pallette to be used across several different programs by simply creating a swatch group for each client. Go to: Perferences / Swatches / Create New :) ENJOY!

I stopped for a sec to write this review, but I remember trying a couple completely worthless apps to pick / save colors. Color Picker is quick and easy to learn. I have to admit I fell in love with the simplicity of this app before I realized it’s ability to actually save swatches. As stated in the dev notes, they have to use the Apple Color Monitor to work. So it's not broken really, just takes a bit of getting used to. When you open the app and select the magnifine glass, the Apple color picker will open up. Use the dropper to meter the color you want and it will feed that to the color picker app. You will see it update and you can copy/paste the data you need (see the Edit menu for the type you want. Hex as example if ⌘E). Not the most convenient but I am still able to get what I need. Seems like it was a limitation from Apple.

One thing I never knew I would need is a good color dropper for finding and using colors I liked from other apps, or even photos I come across. To use this app, you simply open the application, and click on the magnifying glass icon. This then creates a small circular space with a crosshair-like point in the middle that will read out the colros as you hover over them. From here you can click and save the color, which will then give you borh RGB and HEX values for whichever use you please!To the devs, thank you for making this! As a new developer, I’ve learned that finding software that works and is simple can be difficult when you have no experience.
