As an early, pre-Microsoft adopter of Skype with a Skype Number for many years that I used for both business and international calling, I am absolutely thrilled with Twilio. The Twilio app works beautifully on my iPhone and works better than the Skype app ever did.I was very concerned when Microsoft retired Skype and my Skype number was soon about to expire. I was also concerned about porting my Skype Number to another service. I had no experience with any other service. The porting was swift and perfect. I am very pleased with my choice.

Hijacked Twilio settings

Be aware this app will overwrite any webhook configuration on your Twilio numbers. While not a complete surprise, it does not put back the values that were there previously if you select a different number to use with the app from among the ones on your account. If you had an automated attendant or voicemail set up on a number, it will be gone. The app vendor routes webhooks through their servers. This may be a security risk.

This app has several major issues. It struggles to call 1-800 numbers and often fails to recognize dial tones or input prompts required to navigate automated menus. For example, it can’t properly register when you press “1 for English” or other menu options. Additionally, the app frequently experiences downtime or periods where the service simply doesn’t work at all.
