Posts now look the way our editors write them. • Colours, highlights, tables, headings and other formatting added to a post now show in the app, and stay readable in dark mode. • Photo credits can link to the photographer or agency: tap the underlined name. • CarPlay on iOS 27: "Read update" now turns your music down while it reads, and back up when it finishes. • Small fixes.

CarPlay, brought up to date for iOS 26, plus a widget and Live Activities. • CarPlay: the road board now says when it was last checked. If the car loses data, it reads "Updates unavailable" and, after two minutes, "Last known" instead of pretending to be current. • CarPlay: the roads you follow in Settings come first as "My roads", with the rest of Cork's alerts beneath. N8, N73, N72 and N27 join the board. • CarPlay: incidents on city, regional and local roads get their own screen with the location and the time reported (iOS 26.4 or later). • New widget: one road's status on your Home Screen, Lock Screen or StandBy, and on the car screen with iOS 26. Choose the road in the widget's options. • New: tap "Notify me when this clears" on an incident and it also stays on your Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island and on CarPlay as a Live Activity until our team clears it. Switch it off under Settings > Notifications if you'd rather not. • "Call CSA line" on every CarPlay route screen dials 1800 938 106 through the car. • iOS 27: tap "Read update" on a CarPlay route or incident screen to hear a short road update, with Stop and Repeat.

Maps and embedded content now show inside posts. • Council gritting-route maps, videos and other frames that our editors add to a post now appear in the article. Before this update they were left out. • Dividing lines between the updates in a post are visible again, in light and dark mode. • Small fixes.

A small update for the Weather page. • Met Éireann weather warnings are easier to read: the "Potential impacts" of a warning now appear as a list, one per line, instead of running together in a single sentence.

The Live screen has a new look. It opens on a photograph of Cork (interchangeable) with the state of the roads on a card beneath it: whether anything is happening, when we last checked, and the last 24 hours as a chart. The road board under that is tighter, so more of the network fits on one screen. Also in this update: • Tap the bell and your notifications pop out over the screen, grouped into new, today, yesterday and earlier, each with an icon for what it is about. "View all" opens the full list as before. • Scroll down the Live screen and a slim header keeps the state of the roads and the bell in view. • The ad-free notice sheet now shows just the two plans and the button, at half the height it was. • The clock and status icons are now white over the red headers and the photograph. • Notifications that open a story on our news site keep their link after the app restarts. • Small fixes.

• Incident reports now need a location, so every report can be placed on the map. • Notifications gains "News about the app", an optional switch for the odd message from us about new features. Off unless you turn it on. • CarPlay now shows where on the road an incident is, not just which road. • Fixes a case where the app kept adverts off after a subscription had lapsed.

You can now turn off the Google adverts. Open Settings › Adverts and choose ad-free monthly or ad-free yearly: either one stops the banner and the full-screen adverts between articles. It renews until you cancel, it's shared with your Family Sharing group, and Restore subscription brings it across to a new phone. Sponsored posts from local businesses in the Cork feed stay. They help keep the service running. Thank you to everyone who asked for this in reviews. Also in this update: • Fixed the "No connection" notice that could appear on the Live and Cork screens right after opening an alert, even with a perfect signal. Those screens now also refresh when you come back to them. • CarPlay: a road with more than one incident now lists every one of them on its route screen, and the screen updates while you are looking at it. • CarPlay: traffic alerts can now appear as notifications on the car screen (iOS 18.4 or later). • Traffic cameras: switching between cameras works again. Pausing a live feed returns it to its still image, and feeds stop when you leave the app to save data. • Small fixes, including article thumbnails that failed to load.

- Fixed a CarPlay display problem: live incidents on the "Other roads & streets" screen appeared greyed out, as though the alert had already cleared. They now read at full contrast. - CopNothing else has changed in this update.

• You can now phone reports in. The Submit Incident screen leads with our freephone incident line, 1800 938 106: tap the card and your phone dials it for you. The form works exactly as before, and the emergency numbers (999 and 112) are still one tap away at the foot of the same screen. • Important notices can now reach you inside the app, so word of a major closure or outage does not have to wait for a push notification. Dismiss one and it stays dismissed. • Plus small fixes and polish behind the scenes.

Cork Safety Alerts is now on CarPlay. Open it from your car's screen for a live status board of Cork's main roads: the M8, N40, Jack Lynch Tunnel, N25, N28, N22, N20 and N71, each showing at a glance whether anything is reported. Tap a road for the facts, nothing to read at length, nothing to distract. • Hear alerts read aloud while driving: our alerts now support Siri's Announce Notifications, so with the toggle on (Settings, Notifications, Announce Notifications) Siri speaks new alerts through your car speakers or AirPods, hands-free and eyes-free. • Notify me when this clears: tap the bell on any live incident and we'll send you a single push the moment it's confirmed clear. • Fixed a bug where the app could get stuck saying "No connection" until you force quit it, and another where some articles opened with their text missing. • New users are now asked about notifications on first open, so alerts work from day one.

• Feeds now update themselves: when you return to the app, when an alert arrives, and quietly while you're reading. • New: tap "Notify me when this clears" on any incident and we'll send you a push the moment the road is clear. • Sharing an alert now shares the full story link. • Smaller fixes and polish throughout.
