I have been searching for a simple, audio file to text software that was accurate, actually worked (for some reason, of the 10 I tried, only one was able to upload my m4a files!). I was about to purchase an expensive online subscription service, though I may only need like 6 hours of transcription a month, but figured for 5 dollars, no free trial was totally worth it. MY GOD this is amazing. So simple, no fluff, but ACCURATE and FAST and OFFLINE! Wow! I’m a medical student using this to transcribe lectures to make AI gen concept maps/practice questions and this is perfect! It transcribes the fancy medical jargon perfectly. I’ve only done one lecture but it “plasmapheresis” and “IgG” were spelled correctly. My professor speaks clearly so time will tell if it continues to blow my mind, but thought I would share. For those looking for some fancy bulleted full sentence/punctuation easy to read file - this may not be it (but c’mon- you can figure that out given all the free AI tech out there), but for those wanting accurate text transcription from an audio file- please just stop wasting time like I did- literally downloaded 7 different apps with free trials, a few online versions - all expensive - cheapest with accuracy was 120/yr - or a disappointment). Thank you creators for making this a one time fee, offline, simple, accurate, and just so easy to use. I could cry from gratitude.

I have written few reviews previously. I have now downloaded and used Whisper Notes on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook. I have done trial dictations on all 3. Surely the day will come when it makes a mistake but that day has not come for me yet. I can see that I may one day say, “ I can’t imagine what I ever did without it.” I think this may change education in ways I wish I had seen, in my younger years. And that it does this, is able to do this, in airplane mode, is both a triumph and a necessary feature in today’s privacy starved world. I hope you understand how much I appreciate what you have done for me and for so many others who have yet to discover this treasure. Thank you.

It’s buggy, but great when it works

I can't say too much bad about the app when it works, but unfortunately, about one out of every five times, it gives you the record sound, but it doesn't transcribe, and then sometimes it'll transcribe, and when you go to paste, it has your text over and over again copied in different areas of the transcription. So you have to quit the app and start it again, and then it works. So if they could fix these bugs, this would be the best app for this type of stuff.

Hey, really sorry about those glitches. We actually just fixed that specific issue with the transcription failing and the text duplicating in version 1.2.8. It should be solid now, give it a shot

No, but it is a work in progress and as it is updated will no doubt continue to be one of the very best values in this kind of software.
