Update: After some feedback and time, the makers have updated the app to fix some issues quite promptly. I believe eventually this app will have enough kinks fixed to be quite useful. I’ve seen other developers try to launch AI language robots and fail so let’s hope this one succeeds. Communicating vocally and fluidly really helps stimulate authentic communicative learning. Original:I thought the idea of it was so good that I paid for a subscription too quickly. Then right when I started using it, the glitches started coming out of all orifices. I’m set at native English speaker learning Japanese, but the translate button on the AI’s sentences translates from Japanese into Japanese, yeah it translates nothing. lol Then I tap on a specific word in the Japanese text and it gives me the definition in Chinese hahahaha No pronunciation in English or romaji, just Chinese. Where did the Chinese come from all of the sudden? Then the feedback for my own sentence doesn’t make sense. It shows incorrect and revised sentences, but they don’t match up with the rationale. The revised example makes a change that isn’t a correction at all, and the rationale explains a mistake that wasn’t demonstrated in the revision. I’ve barely started using it and already the glitches and inconsistencies are every two seconds. Allowing companies to charge money for things that absolutely don’t work at all should be a crime lol. On second thought, it probably already is …. hmmmmmm

This is the best language app I have ever used! I am learning so much, both Spanish and French. The best way to learn a language is to practice with native speakers, and with this app you can practice conversing with the AI tutors any time, who will correct your pronunciation and grammar, as well as providing translations as needed. There are so many amazing features in this app, and it is great fun as well as educational. I am glad I subscribed, and look forward to practicing every day!

I can’t save my role play sessions, nor can the AI analyze the whole conversation like it does with my “lesson plan” convos. I paid for the premium version so that I could get access to that type of analysis. Keep in mind I can use ChatGPT to do the same thing, so if I’m paying for a GPT wrapper I want the additional convenience to be worth it. Overall the UI is very nice and I like the main lesson plans. I just want the same summary analysis to be available on the private convos and I want to be able to save these private conversations. Look forward to seeing how this app improves.Edit: Today I had a convo based on the challenge and was extremely confused because the answers were super complicated and didn’t seem to make sense based on the setup. For example, the AI was asking me if I had advice, yet I was supposed to be a student asking the teacher questions. The AI kept answering in third person saying “the teacher” instead of “I…” Then, I was given two stars instead of three because I didn’t give details on the grading criteria of a hypothetical assignment…when I was the one asking the teacher about the assignment. So because the teacher didn’t explain the grading criteria when I asked, I’m the one who gets a lower score? Looks like the prompt needs tuning.

The best app so far to help cover “output” when learning a language. It’s great to speak to a person but with this there is no need to set up an appointment or be in a relationship. You can speak anytime you want complete with translations and alternative responses. A bit pricey tbh but still a great app.
