Working from a coffee shop on your MacBook? Or just miss the satisfying sound of a real keyboard? TapWriter Pro brings authentic typing audio to your Mac - every keystroke triggers a real recorded sample, so typing on a flat, silent laptop keyboard feels like the real thing.
37 sounds to match your mood. Twenty-one of them are recorded from real mechanical keyboards: deep and thocky, sharp and clicky, or smooth and almost silent, with brighter and mellower keycap variants of the same switches. Alongside them are six distinct typewriter styles (including a vintage manual and an electric model), wood knocks, water drops, ghostly taps, dropped coins, finger tapping, Pong bleeps, creaking wood, rocks, and smashes. More sounds arrive in future updates - or turn on Shuffle and let TapWriter Pro pick a fresh one for you every few hours.
Fast and natural. Keys sound consistent with where they sit on the keyboard: press the same key twice and it sounds the same, while different rows differ slightly, just like a real board. Presses overlap instead of cutting each other off, so nothing drops out when you type quickly or hold a key down. Natural typing subtly varies each key's volume so it never sounds robotic, and Spatial audio places each key across the stereo field for an immersive feel on headphones. Adjust volume, choose a unique sound for the Return key, and switch sounds from the menu bar or Settings.
Your rules. Set quiet hours so sounds play only when you want them. Mute specific apps - or pick a few apps and play sounds only there. Auto-mute during calls, so keystrokes stay quiet whenever your microphone is in use, and pause sounds whenever other audio is playing. Toggle everything on or off from the menu bar with one click.
Setup is simple. On first launch, TapWriter Pro walks you through a quick setup and asks you to enable it under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring.
Privacy first. TapWriter Pro never records, stores, or transmits what you type. No analytics, no tracking - the only network access is to check for app updates.

The key sounds are just fine, but the instructions are lacking and I can not figure out how to turn it on and off or modify the sounds.

• New: "Same sound for every key" in Effects - prefer one steady key sound to the row-by-row variation? Turn it on.
• Fixed: on Hebrew and other non-Latin keyboards, every key played the same sound. Each key now sounds like its own key, in every layout.
• Fixed: keystrokes occasionally dropping out while typing quickly.
• Spatial audio now positions keys correctly on all keyboard layouts.
