في عام 1423 هـ انطلقت فكرة رائدة على مستوى المملكة العربية السعودية بشكل عام وعلى مستوى الأحساء بشكل خاص هي مسابقة للقرآن والسنة والخطابة تحمل اسم أمير الأحساء الراحل محمد بن فهد بن جلوي آل سعود رحمه الله تعالى، وبعد عدة نجاحات حققتها المسابقة في أعوامها العشرة صدرت بفضل الله الموافقة الرسمية بمقتضى الامر السامي برقم (42/ق/م )بتاريخ 27/3/1432هـ بإنشاء مؤسسة خيرية تحمل اسمه وتكون ذات شخصية اعتبارية مستقلة ، وتتولى وزارة الشؤون الإسلامية والدعوة والإرشاد من خلال الأمانة العامة للمجلس الأعلى للجمعيات الخيرية لتحفيظ القرآن الكريم الإشراف على المؤسسة حسب ما تقتضيه أهداف المؤسسة وطبيعتها
