As a big fan of the original, I’ve been anticipating this release for quite a while now. I had my own doubts and worries that it would somehow be mishandled. I couldn’t see how the first game could be made any better than it already is. Nussy, the developer, has a very realistic and informed understanding of his fan base and with that is able to deliver what he knows will be a hit with those who play his games. He also has his own unique, clear vision that really shines in this particular release. He knew what made Buriedbornes great, and worked with that instead of against it. The new systems are implemented beautifully and everything flows together seamlessly. There are some aspects that aren’t exactly intuitive, but I think that comes with the territory at this point. Tinker around enough and you’ll understand everything clearly. This entry in the series allows for more on-the-fly experimentation with builds due to the new skill tree system which is unique to each individual corpse for that run alone. This helps to mend the issue of those unfortunate runs of terrible luck since you can now lean into whatever you’re stuck with. I very rarely write reviews. I just had to for this game. Nussy did such an incredible job and we’re blessed to be able to play this gem. And knowing how he is, he will definitely be adding loads of content very frequently. TLDR: play this, don’t be dumb.

So I’ve been playing Buriedbornes since the first game came out a while ago, it’s one of those games that you can just hop onto and play a few dungeons, or play for hours. I was pretty addicted to the first one then I saw that the second came out, and I was certainly not disappointed. The second Buriedbornes adds more to the game with the faction system and ways to earn the races and classes. The move sets and runes bring new excitement to the playability of each class, as well as replay-ability to each run. The ui is clean and to the point, and the ability to check what each effect does with the blue highlight for different traits is super helpful. I’ve been sinking hours into this game and plan to keep sinking hours until they hopefully come out with a third.

Mobile gaming is one of the most disappointing things about having an iPhone, mostly because Apple pushes developers to opt for games that run off micro-transaction schemes. Buried bones is a gem in this era. It has depth worthy of dumping real hours into, difficulty that forces the player to actually use their brain, and a size-able, dedicated community to work with while you learn the ropes. The only in-app purchases are for a currency that is non-essential and you’re given plenty free for anything that is essential. The game plays like a fun roguelike with roguelite aspects (you advance between dungeon runs). There’s more variety of playstyles and builds than I can even hope to list here.

I loved the first Buriedbornes. This one does take a very large diversion from the first one but in ways that I believe improve the game significantly. The progression and advancement system is nice as it has no real pay to win mechanics. This makes the game very satisfying when you finally beat a dungeon that you’ve been trying to beat forever. Downsides to the game are that some of the mechanics are confusing or unclear how they work. But other than that, the amount of customization you can put into your characters makes it to where you can find something that you’ll enjoy playing. Cant wait to see what’s in the future updates for season events and such.
