What fell and what's coming, on one screen. Rain Tally is the virtual rain gauge for the question every gardener and grower is already asking: do I need to water today, or will the rain do it? Past 7 days, next 3, and your weekly rainfall target in one view.
PAST AND FUTURE TOGETHER
Most rain apps show you a forecast or a recent total. Rain Tally puts what's already fallen next to what's still coming, so the watering decision is one glance, not a running tally in your head.
YOUR RAIN GAUGE WINS
Rainfall is local at a resolution no weather service can match. Two gauges within a mile of each other can differ by two inches in a single heavy storm. When your gauge says one thing and the weather service says another, Rain Tally trusts your number. Log what fell, and every chart and total recomputes against your data. Most days you won't need it. The weather service and what fell in your yard will match closely enough. For the days they don't, your number wins.
YESTERDAY'S FORECAST BECOMES YESTERDAY'S MEASUREMENT
Most weather apps show the forecast at the moment you look, then move on. Rainfall measurements don't land instantly. Weather-station staff have to read their gauges, the service combines that with other data, and a finalized number publishes hours or days later. Rain Tally keeps checking for 10 days, swapping each day's forecast for the measurement once it's in. A week later, when you look back at the chart, the app has those updated numbers.
DROP A PIN ON THE MAP
Search by address, or drop a pin anywhere on the map. The pin is there for the spots an address can't reach: food plots, pastures, the back corner of a property. One tap captures the coordinates and the local time zone, and the location gets its own past, forecast, and target.
HISTORY AND TRENDS
Pull up any year by day, week, or month, in a chart, table, or calendar. Compare this year against past years and tell at a glance whether the season is running wet or dry. Toggle between calendar year and water year (October through September) for agricultural and water-resource planning.
ALSO IN THE APP
• Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets per location
• Export every daily total to a CSV
• Track one location for free; multi-location, History, and Trends with Plus or Pro
• iPhone and iPad. Your data stays on your device.
WE BUILT IT FOR OUR OWN GARDEN
We're a husband-and-wife pair. We use Rain Tally for our home garden and for the community-garden plots where we volunteer. "Do we need to water, or will the rain do it?" is the question we ask ourselves every week. If you're asking the same one, this is the tool we built for you.

As a Game Keeper and food plot enthusiast, I can say this app will save you money, and a headache. Timing of spring planting is crucial to success and to the prevention of lost effort and money, and one of the most significant factors at play is soil moisture and weekly rain totals. This app will help you track past and future rainfall totals, and consider historical trends in evaluating the outcome of your planting, ensure soil moisture with accuracy before and after planting mitigating seed loss due to imbibition, ponding etc. I have the data to be accurate in accordance with data is collected on site, and pretty accurate in the prediction of totals. I highly recommend. $10 per year is cheap compared to replanting!
Developer Response
Thank you for the kind review. You may appreciate that in version 1.9 we just added the ability to drop a pin on the map to create a location anywhere you like, not just at an address. This was added to help track pastures and food plots that may not have a location you can easily type into the search box. You can either directly open the map and zoom before tapping, or search first and then tap nearby to move the pin.
Useful Rain App!

As a gardener I need to be aware of how much water my plants are getting. I have several weather apps but none of them gives me reliable info on how much rain fell. This app allows me to set how much rain I need per week (I base it on how hot the weather will be) and then the actual measurements so I can determine how much watering I need to do. I love that it shows me daily amounts and totals for seven day periods. Plus it projects how much rain we’ll get over the next many days. This has become my “go to” app.
Finally an awesome app for rain

I am all about quantity of rainfall. It irritates me that all of the forecasting in other apps do not include the amount of rainfall it should predict. This app predicts a very accurate rainfall total for two days ahead and also allows you to enter your own rain gauge totals as you go. I do spend the $10 a year and I love working with this app.
Very useful

This is a great app. One of the problems with having a backyard garden is knowing when and how much to water and the app helps with that. The interface is attractive and intuitive. Tiles are well organized and provide a lot of information that I can take in at a glance. This app is definitely a keeper!
