It does a fairly thorough job of removing things from the backgrounds of pictures, or objects that are not in the main focus of the original. Using the lasso and only straight lines and drawing a box around the object to be removed, is where I have seen my best results.

It could use a few updates, such as a better positioning for the Preview option, and most definitely a better slider for the brush size. I don’t think they’re interested in updating it, though. I still use it quite often, even with the difficult maneuvering it takes to adjust brush size and preview results.
Amazing Eraser Ruined by Tiny Resolution Saves

I usually Photoshop any problems out of my photos before sending them to my iPad for editing, but once in awhile I'll forget a hair or something. Lots of the apps I've tried just don't work well. They all seem to be only made for pimple removal, and can't work for anything else. I got this app and threw a photo I'd had problems with and was amazed! The flaws vanished! I was so excited, but then I checked the picture metadata and realized that it only saves the photos at 1281 pixels.... UGH! Without saving in the original resolution it turns this wonderful tool into a mere toy. Sad! Change the resolution that it saves in to something reasonable and I'll add the missing two stars!

This is definitely an app that requires a little skill to use. This is a Must Have App!

It takes a little practice but it does a great job. The trick is to draw the outline as close as possible to the object to be removed. If there are multiple objects to be removed, remove them one at a time.If you get an area on the picture that is scrambled as others have experienced, use the Lasso tool or Paintbrush and draw as close to the border of the object to be removed as you can. It is OK to be inside the border a little.If you still have random small areas that are not right, draw around them with the Lasso tool.I have tried dozens of similar apps and this one is the BEST! Take the time to learn it. You will be glad you did.
This update from Apple will improve the functionality of this app. No new features are included.
