Ultra 48 MP capture, and two engine improvements. NEW Ultra 48 MP — a fourth rung above Max Quality in the capture quality panel. The whole bracket is captured at the sensor's full resolution instead of 12 MP. The rung appears only on iPhones with a 48 MP-class sensor; capturing at that resolution requires Pro. IMPROVED Highlights. When a small bright point falls out of focus it spreads into a disc, and that spilled light used to reach the finished photo as a bloom around highlights. The engine now recognizes the spreading and leaves it out. Across our test brackets the halo shrank in every case where it was present, and fine detail elsewhere is unchanged. Frames that disagree. Where two frames are equally in focus at a point but the content sits in different places — a subject that shifted between shots, a reflection — averaging them showed both copies as doubled edges. On iPhones with enough memory, those regions are now taken whole from the frame that resolves them. The engine decides region by region: taking a region from one frame gives up the noise averaging of combining many, so it only does it where removing the doubling is worth more than the grain it costs. On a dark hand-held bracket it declines almost every region; on a bright, detailed one it takes almost all of them. FIXED Before a stack runs, the app now measures the memory actually available and picks the richest processing it can finish, reducing resolution rather than stopping part-way. Two big additions in this update. FOCUS RANGE Set Near and Far focus brackets right on the live preview, so each stack sweeps only the depth you care about — no wasted frames. Tap any subject to rack focus straight to that plane, and choose Linear or Macro step distribution for even or close-up-biased coverage. CAPTURE SPEED A new 3-level selector tunes the focus bracket to your shot: Max Speed, Balanced, or Max Quality. Max Speed captures even a 20-frame sequence almost instantly, with lighter per-frame processing; Max Quality runs the full pipeline for maximum per-frame detail.
