The same great gameplay from the original Shadowverse. The art is beautiful, as well, and the super-evolve mechanic adds a lot of new strategy to the game. Shadowverse Park is also a great addition. However, the changes to the game economy from the original are awful and make it near impossible to play ranked as a F2P or, even, as a light spender. Liquefy (the ability to trade cards you don’t want to create cards to fit your actual deck) has been nerfed to oblivion — the fact you can’t liquefy a card unless you’ve already got 3 of them is very unfriendly to new/F2P/non-whale players. I’ve got multiple copies of cards (legendaries and golds) from crafts that I don’t play that I’d normally liquefy to build my main (Havencraft), but am not able to due to the new system. Packs cost more (500 per pull vs 100 per pull in the original too — so be prepared to spend if you want a competitive deck, especially if you want to play a particular craft. It’s a shock compared to the original, which was remarkably friendly to new players compared to its competitors.Make no mistake: the new system is intended to force players to spend more real money to build even moderately competitive decks, ie. If you don’t spend/don’t feel comfortable spending hundreds of dollars, have fun being steamrolled by the whales who do — who will play meta decks with multiple copies of legendaries. I don’t begrudge Cygames for doing this: it seems like the unfortunate industry standard now, but I don’t expect this game to survive long term, as new players dry up and the whales leave as a result (as they can no longer stomp on them), unless the in-game economy is significantly changed.
